Who's fooling anyone? I don't agree with Junkers openly pirating. I also can't really do anything about it so it is what it is. There have always been Junker extortionists. It's good RP. There have also been people willing to pirate and extort Junkers for as long as I can remember. That's life I guess.
No-one is forcing you to do anything, I am just talking about it as a possible consequence of the Alpha situation. A centuries-old hatred of slavery and constant war with the Outcasts are fairly good reasons to take action for that deal. It's all hypothetical and has since blown over.
Even if some of your smugglers become targets, you can always jumptrade a bit more...
Actual alloys are also useful for making ships with, which Liberty/Bretonia supply us with fairly well. Sabah actually sells Scrap Metal for very cheap, although we do like Premium Scrap.
Ah, well we sell you the premium scrap which you guys use and churn out scrap metal and toxic waste because of your production, which we then buy and dispose of either in Dresden, Koeln or Aland Shipyard in Omega 3. Colonials have a poor relationship with Liberty and you need more than alloys to supply your fleet. You know that much at least...
The Barge was a mess, we've given you that one. It was a mistake. However, catching Junkers right outside Planet Malta and using it to blackmail us, to literally one of our biggest customers to try and score extra PVP, is a player damaging move. We have to go to Planet Malta to buy the cardi and sell the slaves. That's Junker RP. I oppose this because the obvious outcome is to destroy Junkers ability to do what they do, it's a death knell to the faction.
The idea behind the separate ID is to allow Congress to carry on what we do and perhaps allow a new Junker faction to fill the void everyone feels. It's a good solution to the problem.
I think we're getting away from the original topic. If you feel there should be hostilities between the Junkers and IMG or the Junkers and GMG nothing is stopping you from bringing that about in RP. I certainly won't tell you not to do it. My point is that it should happen through RP and not something the admins do. For what it's worth I was in favor of some hostilities breaking out over the Alpha incident. I hate to contradict my guys, but our history has shown that those kinds of conflicts actually make the faction stronger. I'm more than willing to discuss this with anyone who wants to bring this about in RP.
Junkers would not be real Junkers for me if they were not gray. Gray, meaning: some are okay. Some are even business partners. Some are harless smugglers. Some are bad smugglers. Some are even outright dangerous criminals.
Why destroy that cool variety by replacing it with a solid red?

Golly caught a Junker Barge full of slaves at Malta, told the IMG who brought it to the Congress. Silver was also there and told the Corsairs, who also brought it to the Congress. The Junkers thought that we were the ones who ruined things with the Corsairs, but I think the whole thing blew over.
Maybe if they are a bit less careful with their barges in future it could happen, it would be interesting to say the least.
So that's how it appeared to outsiders eh? Heheh, this is why I love Junker roleplay. Transformers man, more than meets the eye and all that.
The Congress has two houses against it inRP, just because they're inactive, doesn't mean that factions should start turning red to us.
Also if you made the IMG/GMG red to Junkers (I assume that was to combat the Congress's diplomatic power), regular Junkers get screwed over because they don't have the same resources.
As for Junkers hiring mercs to fight the mercs hunting them? Stupidest idea I've heard in a while. Waging a war in Disco does not hurt an enemy. We'd be pouring money down the toilet, unless we had a small fleet protecting each one of our convoys against a group of mercs that MIGHT attack us. Might as well just roll around with a bunch of .:j:.. It would be different if enemies didn't respawn, or lost their ships on death (although they'd be losing fighters and we'd be losing expensive transports).
"But Crackpunch, you always talk of how rich Junkers are!" Well we didn't get that way by fighting pointless wars. Conflict is generally bad for our business.

We're actually neutral/friendly after they got to replying to our diplomatic olive branch, so the whole house is open to trade with, as are Rheinland and Bretonia. Anything in Premium Scrap can be bought from elsewhere in my eyes.

No big deal would have been made about it normally, except that it was a Barge with 40000 slaves on it. It was a mistake, but we RPed about it. Jack was not looking for kreig when he sent it, and I specifically didn't say anything as CR| until it got serious (which it did not). It was the accusations that we told the Corsairs and whatever consequences you were trying to make of it that might have led to something.
Anyway, I am with Jack. Some Junker groups could be a bit more aggressive to us, but it wasn't necessary or wanted for all Junkers to be our enemies.
When you're talking about killing activity, I highly doubt it will be a problem for IMG or Congress to lose some of their 30 days each.
IND TOO NEUTRAL LET ME PEWPEWPEW WITH MAH LOLCAP
ZONERS TOO NEUTRAL LET ME PEWPEWPEW WITH MAH LOLCAP
TRADING/SMUGGLING TOO EASY LET ME PEWPEWPEW WITH MAH LOLCAP
now it's
JUNKERS TOO NEUTRAL LET ME PEWPEWPEW WITH MAH LOLCAP
Gotta love how one-sided that conflict would be. Considering that the IMG love to sit around doing nothing in Tau-23 in their caps, it would be lovely for them to have an entire faction to shoot at which does not even allow for a single capital ship, right?
As always, it's a stupid idea and solely the result of a desire for effort-free blue messages on the part of players who like to create enemies out of nowhere. It's the same line of thought that created the Liberty-Rheinland war (which has literally gone on for years and years with no end in sight even though Rheinland is empty half the time because of Liberty lolcappage) and the same line of thought that created Gallia, an entire house dedicated to mindless pewpewpewing with literally all of the other houses and the same line of thought that tried (unsuccessfully) to force the Zoners into a war against Bretonia or lose their only owned planet. Just stop it already.
Yes, because CR| and IMG| are the factions with a lot of capital ships around. The IMG| are also definitely the ones to be on the delivery end of "you are too neutral, NERF NERF NERF" threads.
As I said, Jack was looking for RP not pews, the threats were from Congress side. Nothing came of it, but Hawk for one said it would be interesting.
