This is advance notice of a change that is coming in 4.87. One of the following options will happen:
1) Barges will be prevented from jumping when they are near to a jumpdrive capable ship
2) All ships will be prevented from jumping when they are near to a jumpdrive capable ship.
3) The amount of jump fuel required to jump nearby ships will be proportional to the cargo carried and the system will be weighted to make to economically infeasible to use a jumpdrive to move a barge or any cargo.
The intent of this change is to make jump trading impractical in any of its forms although the minimum goal is to make barge jump trading impossible. I'm posting this to give players some warning so that they can consider the impacts and how they might mitigate them.
I haven't picked which option will happen. Option 2 is the default because it is the easiest to implement but option 3 is my preference if there is sufficient time.

Without jumping, barges might as well not exist. They'll only serve to store things for people too poor to maintain a base.
If you make it impossible to jump trade for just barges, you might as well buff their movement, seeing as other ships will be able to trade (by jumping) much more effectively. Few things are more epic than a barge convoy (other than destroying one).

Aye.
Without being able to jump a Barge, you might as well delete Barges from the mod, unless you significantly buff them.
Number three would be awesome, particularly if some commodities posed a risk to warping due to their instability or other similar in-RP quirks. (Jumping with nuclear devices onboard? Sounds risky!)
If #2 or #3 were chosen, I would hope that base upgrade requirements would be nerfed somewhat to compensate.

I agree, although preventing field jumping effects would have the benefit of making carriers more useful, as theyd be the only ships that could jump others - the ones docked inside them.

If for number 1, barges wont exist, unless you buff its speed.
Number 2, the jumpdrive mk4 wont probably exist, restricting it only to a single ship. Maybe remove number 2, its a big problem.
Number 3 is ok.
