But in my opinion, it's not really necessary. Then, we would have spamming and a lot of responsibility on the server that really is unnecessary in a game where most play to relax(I don't want to recreate the EVE Ascendant Frontier Titan fiasco here). Instead, we could grant a limited number of battleship licenses to each faction, instead of limiting it to one per player. That would really cut down on Battleship spamming.

that's one way to deal with it, but sometimes startup factions need a 'flagship' to deal hard... like Lane Security, if it was only 'per faction' they couldn't hold off some of the people they deal with since they aren't (weren't?) official.
Best way to stop cap ship spamming of all varieties (trust me, cruisers are just as bad when you're in a fighter/freighter) as well as power-traders in my humble opinion is to make a gaian offshoot committed to the destruction of everything bigger than a gunboat/firefly: the ships that take an absurd amount of resources to make, and encourage strip mining and such. (and abominations like the pittsburgh debris field). Easy enough to RP, and bomber patrols combing sirius for capships (cept for phantoms, they work pretty hard in Sigma 13 to keep people from getting the materials anywhere and thus reducing number of capships around... and they're scary as hell...) would end cap-whores rather quickly, especially if RP'd caps were left alone (and we advertised that...)
Anyone like this idea? Or should I stop bringing it up?
was thinking, since we talk about gaians, maybe make gaia landable only to gaian guards? through, not a docking ring, but a docking satelite - a small satelite that serves to dock instead of the large rings. Small and rply, only known to gaians.

That is one hell of an idea.
*Supportive*

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
LSF is going to buy Quebec, New Hampshire, or the system between Quebec and Texas(forgot the name...). Those systems are really close to Alaska, and I would like to Ask Igiss the permission to put in it a JH when we will make the system. But that will go for the moment in the ''Will do that later'' box.
I do not dislike the idea, But most of the factions here have a guard system now... And I don't think they would like to throw 1 billion gathered by all their members through the windows.
Your idea is original, But its too late I think, The train has already began to move and it has no brakes.

Hmm, hadn't thought about that... wait, then why are they flying all over some of the tau sectors (even not in Disco)? I was under the impression that they formed to protect gaia specifically but have since expanded to protect nature and whatnot from terraforming, destructive vacationing, (hence their presence everywhere there's an Orbital Spa and Cruise vessel) and strip mining... not sure, never really got a good look at their infocard. Does anyone have it?
And plus, it could always be a rather different offshoot, but we should try to change as little as possible...
i think doing away with guard systems all together is good, why not have guard "areas" inside normal zones?
have a faction skinned battleship base or station with guard NPC's patrolling near it. the "area" would be out of the way in the system (think of the outcast base in the omnicrons). this makes more sense to me, this way the factions HQ would actually be in their main system i.e. RM in New Berlin, QC* in New London. Logistically it doesn't make sense to have to jump from another system to defend your "capital".
this would open up all the guard systems to be new explorable ones with more unique content.
EDIT: i had an idea similar to this topic a while back, here's a link:
