They can go anywhere. They can´t shoot anywhere. Or better say - they can´t attack first anywhere. That is why something like ZOI exists, outside of it they can fight only in self defence. I will remind this concerning this group:

- Don't attack outside your ZoI (if we see Legates in the Taus, or Valors in Rheinland, CTE750 will be applied by yours truly)
- Don't attack bases of your allies (same deal, pull that kind of bull and you'll see those battleships starflier'd)
Since there aren't any rules regarding bases (they do no count as players) Corsairs and Lolgates can shoot at any base anywhere on the map. When someone shows up to stop them from doing so, they are free to return fire.
Why do people send dumbass remarks to Tel-Aviv when he said that? It is true.
I'd like to see any of the Admins enforce an unwritten rule.
I've been away for a short 4 months and I come back to... huh? I believe Bootsiuv's initial question was, "What is the IN ROLE PLAY reason / story / lore / idea scratched on a napkin in a shady bar on the wrong side of the tracks, for this blatant OUT OF ROLE PLAY attack on these completely unconnected player owned bases.
Can we please stick to the topic at hand and not wander from it to who's boots are shinier at the Imperial palace on planet Fluffernutt. This is how threads get locked Via the mythological creatures known as "The Admins."

Epicly vague reason is epicly vague. With that answer, they could verywell come out and tell us that their new faction is the Justice League pulled through a space time rift by Doctor Who, who infact thought he was pulling a pizza pie from the oven. therefor, they saw all the hostility / corruption / "Balancing" that needs to be done to this universe and thought, "What the heck, why not."
Sure, but tonnes of people get away with vague roleplay and unjustified dispositions. And lots of NPC factions get away with lax Mary Sue "evolved" lore, it's nothing new.
Bases are built and operated without roleplay (or in the best of cases vague roleplay), even official faction ones, so by all rights it is fine they are removed by the same means. That GMG| one the Bass Hunters removed didn't have a single line of RP on the forum (not that I could find at least), yet it blocked a jumphole and were gunning down Neutral/Friendly Freelancers. It is absolutely fine that it get removed in a similar fashion - interestingly the Bass Hunters have done more forum RP regarding that base than its owners.
Oorp'ly all in all this goes to show that we need rules for bases - we needed them as well back when it was indies and non-forum users that got harassed by bases, but it seems that you need to tick the right people off to get some changes done around here, so good job Bass Hunters!
Sadly, with the whole POB RP thing, If there's even a lick of RP on the forums hinting at even the vaguest of possible locations for said base, then there will be a fleet of hostiles coming to take it out in a matter of hours. I do agree that bases need RP as much as everything else in game, and its been severely lacking as of late in that department (Before I disappeared for 4 months that is) yet there aren't nearly the amount of safeguards (rules and such) to keep the metagamers from taking advantage of the player downtime and all.
This needs to be called to the attention of the big guys.
P.S. The Bass Hunters did bring this to the headlines, i'll give them that.
No, Anaximander.
The only proper iRP way to deal with a base is to build your own right infront of it, with platforms, so any trader trying to undock dies.
