Yeah, but to be fair it has never felt like this before. I am the one who'd usually start laughing at people that Disco is dying, but I think it may as well be, but not in the activity sort of way. Vets remember ''better'' times and slowly leave. New players come and have different ideas on how the server should be ran and how to deal with things, RP and out of RP. In other words, Disco as WE know it is indeed fading away, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. It is simply going to be different. Better or worse, time will tell.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

What'll kill Discovery is people trying to think of new ways to kill Discovery. We don't need more admins. We don't need more sanctions. We need a more accepting environment that invites people to stay and enjoy taking part in the world.
EDIT: I remember "better" times, too, but I still enjoy the Discovery I'm playing today. It's different, a bit, yes, but it's still good fun and I'm still finding randoms in space who I enjoy pirating creatively (and I don't lose my poop at people who blind engage me in a transport or whatever -- I just say a line or two while dodging fire and then blow them up) and a fair number of people who I find out there and just enjoy talking to.
You are correct. This sort of thing has been mentioned multiple times over multiple years. Now, granted, it's been a long time since I've been on staff, but the reason why this sort of thing isn't implemented is because...well, there is this old saying: "Too many cooks spoil the broth" (google it if you need to)
What you're asking for is more bureaucracy to deal with bad behavior. That ain't gonna fix squat. It will just require more time with more people to deal with problems they can't fix anyway by the very nature of the problem itself.
Instead of expanding enforcement, what you'd be better off brainstorming about is what can be realistically recommended to lessen the general buttholery in the community overall that drove you to default your opinion to justify more staff enforcement in the first place.
That's the real vein to tap...& it's a bitch & a half to figure out, cause no one has succeeded up to now. (& not from lack of trying either)
Y'know what? Nevermind the doublepost. It's not really fair of me to leave you blindly hanging like that since I know the reality of what you're trying to get at, so instead of waiting for you or someone else to blindly grasp at old-ass staws, here's my suggestion:
Officially add to the rules (in some diplomatic form or fashion)...
"This is only a game. The time you spend here is strictly your free time, & if you break any rules that the staff deems sanctionable, it's up to you to take it with an ounce of maturity and a grain of salt & take it for what it's worth. If you feel the sanction is unwarranted, say so in your sanction thread & the issue will be given extra scrutiny.
If you're still angry about being sanctioned after the due diligence & the result is not in your favor, then tough. The world has never & will never revolve around you from now until the day you die"
RP here is much cooler than you. So don't allow your personal ego to eff it up for the rest of us when things don't go your way in a specific moment of anger...we are all real people here & deserve to be thought of & treated as such by default...including you."
There. That's at least a little something to go on. :hrug::

Eh, I dunno. I've been playing here for a long ass time, and I've seen how many players there aren't nowadays.
Honestly, in a couple of years, when SC comes out I think it'll be the end of Disco. Still, until then gonna have fun while we can on here I suppose.
Discovery is dead as the idea it used to be a long time ago. So basically what is the difference between Disco FL and other servers now? RP? There is as much RP as on some PVP servers I was playing.
GMs could work, I am myself and some other people were suggesting GMs or alike persons\actions to be introduced since forever and nothing happened so far.

Even though it's a lot of work for the admins to handle the sanctions, I still think that they, in great secrecy, think it's kinda fun to smack everyone around.
Your suggestion would keep adding more and more people to the "admin team". and finally there would be no regular players left. Kinda like the situation we've seen with all those new groups where everyone is an Admiral, and there's no low ranking officers anywhere to be seen. If there are too many rulers, they will finally start sanctioning each other, and then the mess would be total.
People will be people. That's a fact of life. We will try to cut corners and make things a little easier for ourselves if we can. As long as we don't get caught, everything will be accepted. That's just how people in general work.
But what happens when they do get caught? They get some stuff removed from that char, and although it happens to new players who don't have a lot of stuff or money, it's also the situation when it happens to rich old players with tons of cash. Taking away their stuff doesn't mean more than a bump on the road (or in space). It takes them 30 minutes, tops, to restore their ship to what it was. And people who get banned are constantly appearing in the forums and the server despte being banned.
It's high time to start asking why people keep breaking the rules all the time. The answer is because they can. As long as we accept powerful ships in the hands of newbies and other players, who in general doesn't know diddly about server rules or simply ignore them, then the problem will not go away. Restrict the use of certain ships, and make it hurt badly when people who are trusted with these ships break the rules. Make people think twice before doing something stupid.
Only read the first post, but I think it's a good idea.
Considering that [Angels] could be said "GameMasters", just with more powers?
Also want to add (since many people blame us mods for it) that mods originally aren't allowed to comment on sanction reports. And it is/was actually meant to be an admin's-only task.
