I didn't open this thread as "Staff Member" (otherwise it'd have been in orange letters), but as ordinary player who did experience an unannounced rollback in the last update. And since I didn't received an "official" statement on this myself, I found it wise to let others know of the risk.
In my eyes, a rollback is a logical consequence of the many bugs which occur with new versions. And it makes sense, that the progress during such testing periods might be lost, under certain circumstances like people finding out about bugged trade routes for example.
However, I'm also annoyed that there's no official statement on this. And maybe you're right, and we should let people remain unaware of this potential risk, just for the sake of bug-finding. In my opinion, there'd be more bugs found if people knew that they can mess around, and that all the things get rollback'd anyways.
/edit:
[00:53:57] Simon (Narcotic): Matt, since you're here now. Is there any rollback during the beta period planned?
[00:54:32] Matt (Cannon): Yes
Does it mean equipment lost in beta will be back?
I have lost 6 turrets on my nephilim now--4 for the first log-in after install the beta and 2 for another log-in; and a cheetah thruster on my Geb.
I don't ask for refund, because it has no evidence, and is a trivial thing to the mod.
If this roll-back could help me get back what is on the ship before the beta, I would be very happy to see it happen.

There should be only one kind of warning coming from the Discovery staff when it comes to a new mod version, and those are official statements from the dev team leaders, admin staff or those who the responsibility might be officially delegated to. All you do with a post like this is fuel the rumor mill, and I am sure there will be more than enough of that without this input. Add to that, telling people not to trade, buy ships or do other things in game will have a serious negative effect on the development process, as this is a beta and the point is to do all those things to find bugs.

Yes Joker a roll back would return any equipment that was lost after the target date.
I wonder will the rollback be back to 2013.14.09 or a two months one, before the cheats were found.
