Yeah but my point is, ALL pirates kill anyone that tries to escape.
Everyone in Sirius will hear about this, then will know what will happen if they try and run.
It's like executing someone to make an example, kill a few traders and lose some cargo/cash now, then in future, they're less likely to run and we'll end up making more money as a result.

Pirates have been using the "make an example" excuse since I've been on Disco. Check if it really worked after all of these years: traders are still attempting to escape, and always they will do.
As long as it falls within the scope of the rules (demand needs to be made before killing, cut your engines or variants thereof equal to a demand when the trader tries to flee) then people are free to roleplay their characters as they see fit.
If a trader would rather run than pay, fine.
If a trader would rather pay, that's fine too.
If a pirate wants to take their time and play around with the trader, or break their skulls in if they refuse to pay, that is also fine.
I'm tossing a lock on this, no further discussion is necessary.
