Security essentials is a piece of crap, it detects nothing. And it's free. Free antiviruses are usually crap. I have smart security 7, doubt that it'd give false alarm , especially if the case is similar with almost every -more or less usable- AVs.
Oh, but I can always uninstall it or downgrade it to MSE. 'cause if I cannot see something it doesn't exist. Problem solved.
I use avast, no issue with disco. Also, the new Osprey looks badass and can haz a snac!
But I wanted to ask about the scanners... No more Discovery Scanners? I looked tons of bases in companion and none is selling. You can find the battleship scanner in shipyards, but no discovery. I imagine it is on purpose, cuz of the new scan range plugin, but where do we buy it?
Anyway, congratz and thanks for the job on this update.
The client has had a problem with crashing during startup on large player files (big maps) for quite a while. Maybe the updates have done something that are contributing to that problem condition. It seems to be somehow related to the way that the client-side anti-cheat does things, like the client stuff is launching processes that are windowed and it is forcing the game to pop in and out of full-screen mode, and during this time the server anti-cheat process times out and decides to kick the player. The way I get around it is to make sure the game is in windowed mode before I select the ship, that seems to help the client-side stuff run quicker and prevents the server-side stuff from kicking the user.
Also, aerelm can you please make some kind of comment class-6 faction weapons for the non-house factions (BHG).
I can't seem to reproduce the virus scan problem. All I can see is that the server seems to think I am cheating when I try to log in. On my end, it is causing the game to lock up, crash to desktop and inform me that the game has stopped working.
If it is the file, i think there is more then one issue occurring. For some it seems to be an anti-virus problem reading a false positive on their end. That does not seem to be the case for others though (in my case, the anti-virus is fine with the file)
I tried a full uninstall and reinstall of the game to no avail. I did note however that when it tried to go to update 4, I got an error message concerning an inability to extract DSace.dll due to the directory being used and it asked me to close FLstat or FLCompanion and to then hit retry. Those program were not running, nor was anything else connected to the program. Four additional attempts yielded the same problem. I had to restart the computer before the try was successful.
This file is definitely bugged and it seems to be affecting different computers differently. Admins, can you please shed any light as to what is going on? At the least can you please tell us with this specific Dll does so we might be able to find our own ways around the problem?

DSAce is a core DLL for extended secure communication between the client and the server and the implementation of new features into the Freelancer engine. It is highly integrated into the Discovery mod.

Redoing all the NPCs pushed most new models to the todo list. Not this update, but it's on the list.
People who are crashing - a crash report and possibly your FLSPEW data in bug reports would be useful to try and track this down.

From a time when all seems lost, from a dead man to a world, without restraint, unafraid and free.

Thank You for the explanation. that explains to me better why this same issue exists when I try to run a private server and get this same crash problem

I can't give you a crash report from windows as it is not generating one. The program when it crashes, stops being registered as a running application the moment it goes to the desktop and is not generating a report as the computer seems to be interpreting it as the program has simply stopped running so I get the crash message but no report.
FLSpew data however, I was able to get. I have highlighted the items that popped up a warning message. I also think I found the critical problem, that I highlighted red. I hope this helps.
