Yes, that makes sense.

Aha, if their cargo space will be 500, okay

how about we let the balance devs decide that one?

How about I'll comment your previous post with that quote too?

but you didn't.

besides logically, 500 cargo is both a) a strangely specific figure and b) just does not make sense scale wise given how a liner can already dock a 500 cargo freighter within it

on the other hand, there are only so many shields to choose from, given how much bigger a line is compared to most cruisers, cruiser shields are a definitely reasonable armament.

While Liners shouldn't be able to be used as warships, it should be able to win against lesser attackers in a battle of endurance using its trans/gb turrets

Alright if you wanna speak of logic, it's a liner, it's supposed to have rooms in it for humans to sleep, drink, entertain themselves, or whatever.

It's not supposed to be filled with Gold Ore/Boron/Hazman Canisters (lol), where is the cargo going? A few units per room on top of the beds/furniture?

Passenger 1: It's a lovely liner, but why does it smell of Tobacco, and why is my hair falling out?

Passenger 2: Oh, the captain filled every room in here with Tobacco for a trade run.

Passenger 1: Right... and what about my hair?

Passenger 2: Last week he used it to transport Radioactive Materials.

Passenger 1: U WOT M8?

Funny man, that made me laugh. I proposed something about this a long time ago. I think cargo should be limited to ships and reputation. There's a reason why only ALG transports hazardous materials, they are the only ones with the ships to do it. And maybe the Junkers.

I don't transport anything other then passengers/ criminals/ prisoners/ crew/ scientiests/ marines in my liner. And anyone hauling ore with a liner should be sanctioned imo.

Liners are fine. They can hold 2 snubs while being cloaked for more than half a hour.

AFAIK using liner is the easiest way to attack convoys with escorts/scouts.

Ships should be rated for their cargo/passenger capacity, even if it isn't hard-implemented into the game.
Eg. a liner is rated at perhaps a lot of passengers and a bit of cargo
or camara is rated at a few passengers and mostly cargo
or grizzly is rated at mostly passengers and few cargo

perhaps the ship partitioning should be a required part of all liner's info card, eg after a cau8 on my luxury liner i have around 4k space left, and I will have to specify the configuration of my liner as eg. 3k passengers and 1k cargo, so i cannot carry more than 3k passengers or more than 1k cargo otherwise i am breaking game rules and house laws or something

No atmosphere? GTFO.

I would prefer game limitations to game rules. And i like your idea for partitioning. It would work with more commodities too. So you could specialize ships without the need for an economy remake. And there's already a line in the comodities ini iirc that can stop you from buying from a trader that you are not friendly enough with. And maybe you could limit some commodities to freighters, making them usefull.

These two improvements would make a better role play experience possible.
