Since the FP7 thread was being hijacked, lets shift the stuff to here.

Identifying as a Zoner indicates subscription to that particular lifestyle, not a hierarchically structured organisation with unified asset management.
If that were true, what justifies the 'Zoners' having ships of their own at all? Why would we have "Zoner" fighters, let alone transports and capital ships and faction-specific guns? And even if they did, would make their tech any less ubiquitous than civ or borderworld tech?
You make the Zoners sound a lot like Freelancers. Less interesting Freelancers. And this scares me because you, being on the dev team, have the capability to completely ruin this faction that I enjoy so much. :B
I think roleplaying a faction that's trying to become its own house, one based on freedom and equality, is much more interesting, and so this is what I push for. Furthermore, the tech (which I'm grateful we still have) makes more sense my way.

Honestly, is it really worth debating over? People have lost sight on what it means to be a Zoner. There will always be one person saying it should be another way.
No real answer will come from a thread like this, they never do.
Zoners are the same as Junkers and Freelancers. A Group large enough to be identified under one name, but the participents of which have their own goals. The mix of all those individuals and their goals make the Zoners. Most of which are people, who have evacuated from house space due to whatever reason.

To be fair, the whole Tel Aniv mess, I can understand how you want to make your NPC faction into something more awesome than it give your faction something more awesome to play it than it already has.
Maybe zoners DO need a bit of shaking up? They have a while shipline they do not use after all.

Naahhhhh, that sounds a bit of a lazy way to deal with this. Without Freeports, Zoners are pretty much just indie traders IDs with a 3600 cargo limitation and who are bound to non-house space routes because of their RP.
Dunno, how else can we change the ID and the ships to make them worth having in the first place.
I mean, complain about zoners all you want, but can you imagine Delta without the freeport there? Meh.

Zoner players actively RPed freeport independent diplomacy for like 1 month or so for a whole disco time. I don't think it's worth bothering to have all those random people w\o any idea about the zoner lore rofling around with caps claiming they are a house.

That's the Vagrant Raiders, not the Zoners.
In my opinion, Zoners were ruined the moment official Zoner factions started to exist. it completely distorted the spirit of the original NPC faction. A Zoner is a Zoner, wherever he lives. Instead, now we have TAZ Zoners, OSI Zoners, Phoenix Zoners, and whatnot. Makes. No. Sense.

Hey, isn't what they are intended to be in the first place? That, and massive RPwhores. Plus the Freeports of course.

Not really. All these different kind of factions just add to the diversity of Zoners. CW should be official too, the more diversity we have the better it is.
Also, posting in a ZONERZONERZONER thread. Trying to be a House? Really...?
