I am no longer feel intimidated by the usual stuff, but it is depressing to see the same people over and over again opening threads like these. It happends every so often that if they don't open a zoner thread I might suspect theres something wrong with the world, so I hope they keep doing that, cause it obviously raises some blood pressure to people. On the topic, I'll be happy to move the zoners to cayman, as long as I don't get to see any popes.
Anyway I should probably talk to Phoenix about this and see what they think.
Echo? Are you listening? You said Cayman had 'potential'. Did you have some other plans for the system I should know about before I start pushing for this any further?

Basically these two quotes, but more.
Zoners are meant to be splintered, the existence of different "Zoner Factions" with their own goals, ideals, agendas, and styles is a good thing, and it fits with the whole "Zoners are Independent" thing. I think it would make sense if there were some sort of Council made up of the "respected leaders" of each Zoner group, that would serve to say, keep the peace and prevent incidents between the various Zoner groups (but not to act as a leading body for all zoners everywhere) but other than that yep...Zoners are a people who became Zoners out of a desire to get away from say, Centralized House Governments and Governance.
I imagine that governance of say...Gran Canaria, works similar to the way it does on the Freeports: "Do what you want within reason, and don't mess with the order of things, and you'll be fine", but obviously on a much much larger scale, with people living semi-normal lives on the surface of an inhabited world.
"Government" should be a term used extremely loosely when paired with anything related to Zoners. Again, the existence of all the separate Zoner factions is a good thing, and adds to the whole "We're independent and neutral" spiel.
Zoners should remain splintered as they are now, however they should all be given the ability to fight vehemently to defend their "neutrality", should the need arise. What I mean to say is that there should be no unified "Zoner Government", and that the Zoner factions by and large should continue to operate separately, as that DOES make sense, but they should be ready and willing to unify in times of emergency or crisis, in order to, as I said "Vehemently defend their neutrality and independence" (i.e. the Zoner way of life)
Think on that; an industry funded by all of the "Zoner Factions", with the intent of producing a means for the Zoner Peoples and Worlds to defend their way of life. Is that not a sensible explanation of how the "Zoner Shipline" came to be, without a united "Zoner House"?
Dunno, I'm sure I rambled a bit and mixed words here...but it's late and I've yet to sleep, hopefully somebody understands what I'm saying though.

No.
There are plans for RoS and Cayman, and no, I am not sharing them right now.
If players and/or factions want to propose separate changes to Omicron-74, however, I'm listening.
*Sigh*
Sorry if I annoyed you; this just seemed like an ideal solution. It didn't require any new systems or bases to be made, just reconfiguration of stuff that was already there.
As Sabre stated (albeit coarsely), there really aren't many other good options.
You could just... pick up O-74 and move it somewhere, I guess, but that doesn't advance the Zoner "plot", it's just a retcon dropkick. You'd upset a bunch of peoples' RP without any storyline justification.
Adding to Omega 49 is kind of out, since it's apparently a corsair 'protectorate' or whatever, and it's already being fought over.
Anything else involves making a new system for us. Is that something the dev team is willing to do?
Since you're the one with your foot on the pedals here, Echo, I'd be interested to hear your ideas, in regards to what you think the Zoners are capable of and would want to do. And also, how much effort you and the rest of the dev team are willing to put into this.
Otherwise, my idea comes out as 'well, we need a new system and new bases, and we just so happened to find this great new system...' and it quickly starts sounding very contrived and convenient for us.
Zoners dont need their own systems to be Zoners. They also never are the primary power anywhere - they are just making sure diplomatically none of the great player smashes them.

It's not.
1) There's no reason for there to be 2 freeports (9 and 15) that close together.
2) It's way too close to the Corsairs.
3) It's illogical that we would have built our research facility and shipyard in a system that's going to see so much foreign traffic.
4) The main jumphole is right next to freeport 9. everythingwentbetterthanexpected.jpg
5) That minefield offends my sensibilities. I don't like the cut of its jib one bit. It's enough of a stretch to think that we can build Livadia and Corinth. But we have this enormous minefield with this zigzag entrance, and then on top of that we have an extra station inside just to protect Corinth.

I'm sorry Omicron, but the people who play Zoner as their primary faction want to do other things besides trade. That 'making sure diplomatically none of the great players smash them' thing? It gets stale really quick. The status quo is that nothing happens, because there is no conflict. Then someone does something to shake things up, so that diplomacy is required again, and the community calls them lolwutty bad Zoners. It's infuriating.
So unless you have something constructive to add in regards to how we can grow as a faction, kindly go back to worrying about the Order. Thanks.
Well, I wouldn't bother wiping O-74 - I'd totally re-work it. My thoughts on the matter aren't very well ordered right now, but I will share them once it's drafted.
Addendum: It would be best to let the members of Phoenix speak for themselves.
