It's more a matter of considering when to delete, rather than considering whether or not to delete. Primarily, it's a matter of what to do with that system's base entries, and how to change surrounding jump hole links.
Quote:It may have been a nice system, but the bases there didn't make a lot of sense.
Where were you when omega-15 was introduced?
Telling everyone how much sense and in-lore depth are in HF systems, bases and caps?
Your opinion isn't perfect.
So, just... take a look at the thread I linked there.
Might give you an idea of today's community needs, based on gaming experience rather than theoretical thoughts.
Echo please tak into consideration my suggestion regarding the numerous buffer systems that are reduntant. It's in the thread Lynth made. The suggestion is: Add all the systems you want to delete and move them to the omicrons. Make them all deep nomad space linked to Iota or 99 with a high level NPCs and strange bases. Let Treewyrm experiment there.

I wasn't a Dev when it was introduced, so I'm not responsible for its design; neither was I responsible for the design of Omega-9. Criticising my support of Hellfire Legion content is irrelevant and amounts to ad hominem, as it has nothing to do with the Omicrons. It's also misguided, too, as I was responsible for toning down some of Vespucci's slightly over-blown infocards for v4.87.
An opinion, by definition, cannot itself be perfect, so essentially you're saying that my proposal is not to your liking. I have not claimed that I have the perfect solution - I'm just offering something that I believe is better than the present situation.

Interesting, but it's not a good idea in the long term. This would simply shift the issue of excess unpopulated systems to a different region. If systems can be properly deleted, then we may as well do just that. Besides, I think Treewyrm has enough "raw material" to spice up the current Nomad Omicrons by recycling existing systems and bases.

In my mind, these two systems are somewhat interchangable in gameplay terms*, as (to my knowledge) neither of them have any special history inrp or otherwise. So, are you suggesting that Lorraine connects to 81 specifically to reduce the number of jumps between Lorraine and Alpha / Tau-37, or for some other reason?
*they could switch positions or have systems connections adjusted slightly without causing a major catastrophe
Echo, I am pleased to say I applaud the version 2 map you have put out there. Everything looks like a major improvement to what we currently have. As a principal, I would push for deletion and merger of more unused systems, though each must be looked at on an individual basis.
However, there is one very important flaw I see in your current layout for the systems. I believe the deletion of the jump hole from Omicron Gamma to Omicron Kappa should not be carried out. This jump hole is central to corsair lore in that it is surrounded by the "Graveyard of the Innocents." Seance times immemerable, corsair children have been sent to this jump hole to prove their worth. One of the most bone chilling experiences I had in vanilla freelancer was taking the time to read the info cards in that graveyard, and then realizing that nomad ships were showing up on my scanners.
Deleting such an important link to the nomad systems, present seance vanilla, and part of the fabric of corsair lore should not be done lightly. I strongly advise against doing such and push for another solution, if possible.
Care to share your thoughts on the Zoner situation, since the other thread got locked, and you're proposing deletion of the connection between theta and 74?
What do you think about that last proposal I made?
I'm curious what you're planning to do with Cayman and the ROS, too.

I didn't think of this. The reason I put the Kappa-Theta link is was to create a sort of Zoner system continuity - travelling through Gamma or Lambda to reach Delta or Kappa felt odd, as the Corsairs (at least during vanilla) weren't in favour of having too many visitors around their home. To balance that out, I cut the Gamma-Kappa link. However, if I were to restore the Gamma-Kappa link, O-74 could instead become the Zoner / non-Corsair pathway to Delta by un-Guarding the system.

Following on from the above, Omicron-74 needs to lose its Guard status, and the Theta-74 hole needs to get some real distance from FP9. Some bases in 74 would need to be shifted to other systems and/or change ownership.
Cayman plans are still very tentative and not ready for public release. However, four Zoner bases in the space of two adjoining systems is overkill; it's probable that one base each in Omega-50 and 49 will change hands to other local factions.

Lanz is really only useful as a place to park caps. No big loss there.
But both pueblo bonito and boa vista have RP associated with them. The people who administrate those bases aren't going to be happy.
You also didn't mention giving us anything new and interesting, just... moving or removing stuff we already have.
