Death at 700K, PvP Dead?

While I generally don't approve of not RPing, if I know I might be shot at but want to afk I would go out of my way to make myself undetectable (eg. jumphole to jumphole direct cruising) so the interaction is unlikely to happen.

Still I find it sad that certain comments want a trader, even if he is a pirate in a ptrans, to just give up his life and "give him the blue message", as if

"Oh hi officer, I'm a pirate ID'ed trader in my outlawed pirate ship, and I would love to be blown to pieces and sent to jail for being a pirate. In the interest of not being annoying, right? Yeah, screw self preservation, that is totally not a realistic motive for me to try to run for as long as possible and hope that you give up, yarrr"

I would like clarification from an admin on this, if I'm chased for 700k+ and I explode due to the limitations of Freelancer, does this count as PvP death?

It happened yesterday and I stayed out of the system anyway, when I died, there was no death message and I appeared at the station I was previously docked at, with all of my cargo/ammo in tact.

The guy that was chasing me then told me to leave the system, then, miraculously he appeared in another system, so obviously he killed himself too.

Personally I don't think this should count as a PvP death, in real life, the chase could have kept on going for days.

If anyone is interested, I was in a Pirate Transport, fleeing from a Navy Battlecruiser that wanted to pop me, I was not engaging in piracy, I was trading.

If your opposite of another ID/player or NPC and you are shown in the cross hairs in Red aren't you fair game-I'm quoting from the last line you wrote but I am curious about this as well. A couple of times I noticed everything was intacked

Nice to actually hear from someone that understands my point.

Seems like piss poor roleplay to just give up like an idiot and be blown up, especially when I have so much to lose.

No, you're NEVER fair game...

1) You must always RP.

2) Just because someone is red on your scanners doesn't mean you can engage them after a few lines of RP.

3) I play as a Hacker a lot, we hate DSE (in RP), this doesn't mean we can go around blowing up their transports because they're red on our scanners.

4) To destroy a trade ship, you must issue a reasonable demand, even if you're a Navy player, and you've caught an unlawful transport.

A demand could be: Drop all of your cargo and shoot it.

or...

Drop all of your Cruise Distributors so you can't pirate anymore.

The later was used by a Police char once, he caught up to me in a LF, CDd me, then began to chat.

He RPed well, made me drop all my CDs, and then let me go.

Another refreshing example of some creative RP, instead of the usual "ZOMG RED PIREATE RED PIRATE RED PIRATE PEW PEW PEW"!!!!!!!!!!!

Sure, run away from things you can't beat. That's fine.

Running away for 700K.. That isn't fine. That's wasting someone's time. I once got away from a Valor in a BWT by engine killing, turning around and cruising the other way. They won't have core in time to stop me heading the other way past them. Sure, you can say a cruiser has CDs. But I'd prefer to spam CMs and try it than waste someone's time for 700K. I'd rather let them kill me than do that.

Don't even know why I'm pointing this out. It should be obvious.

Then at least RP it out and if you're still going to die, just suck it up. You're supposed to trade for RP as well as money. If he just engaged you for no reason with no words, then sanction him. Problem solved.
