hm.some of you say here that people join corsairs because in sp is titan the king.but who from independent corsairs fly titan? 10 percent or less? other thing is corsair gb. i think that is the best gb in game.(and i am sure it can destroy the scropion too.) third thing is that you can be easily friendly with corsairs as with outcast.
the original comment was about corsair warships hanging out at crete. - and thats been solved. there was a lot of flaming and yelling about corsairs venturing out of their NPC space. - now, the capital ships do what they are meant to do - thats defend installations.
i think thats ok.
about the duelling and killing each other. - well, i made my point about that some time ago. - a death in a pvp is a death, and every rule should apply. so i would say that.... no matter how you die ( in pvp or duel against a friend ) your lock out should be 4 hours. - a dead char = dead char, no matter how he died. - since that won t ever happen and duelling and suicides into planets and suns are common, even among the hardcore RPers. there is little reason to get upset about.
about the corsair gunboat ... it has about the best combat performance with a firepower allmost equal to that of come destroyers. the scorpion is indeed better - but its locked out. - so the corsair gunboat is pretty much the number one choice. doesn t mean its really the best - but 8 foreward guns is what only the scorpion can match.
besides, - i have seen corsair independents in leeds, cambridge, new london recently. not many, but an occasional independent doing a good pirating job - aswell as escorts that stood at "guard" at the omega-11 JH, while one of the smugglers tried to dock at a base in cambridge. - they headed towards me, when i showed up ( on cheshire ) on the transports sensors. - all in all, i can t say the corsairs are insulating themselves in gamma.
i also saw a few playerfaction corsairs in bretonia - but thats down to the timeshift you re in.
besides: - the one attack i personally wittnessed recently on gamma was the whole blood dragons fleet invading gamma. it was a retribution strike it appeared - but there were only like 3 or 4 little corsairs there at most of the time - not sure what ships classes they were - but i think it was a balanced mixture of one cruiser and a few smaller stuff. - they got wiped within 3 seconds. - so i do understand corsairs to "hang out at gamma to defend" - just like every other warship should do.
just cause its the corsiars home system doesn t mean they enjoy flying their warships through the asteroid fields around their system - and they re build to defend rather than to attack anyway. - the only "critizism" i have is - that gamma is protected as it should be ( at least sometimes ) - while systems like omega-41 or omega-11 are hardly ever protected. ( but then, no one wants to guard a system that damages the ship all the time )
Oh dear, this old chestnut.
Well, for what it's worth, Laowai is mostly there.
TT started to learn -quite nicely- about RP and then they just disappeared. They were not native english speakers, but they tried even buying fighters rather than using their cap-ships. They have been gone now for some time (I haven't seen them in over 2 weeks, at least) but I would have thought them an RP success. For the 3 months they were here, they used firstly freighters, then cap-ships and then finally fighters before disappearing. For a non-english speaker, isn't that a good thing to do all that and then end up in a fighter?
Hand holding does work (although it can be painful sometimes, I concede).
People don't automatically get the RP here. It's what makes it unique but it takes a while. Especially for non-english speakers.
Yes there is often a small fleet of cap-ships in orbit off Crete but as pointed out, it's the homeworld of one of the largest factions here so why not?
The amount of times there have been Outcast and Nova incursions recently, I'm surprised it's so small (Joke)
The TBH, Benitez and OPG (an old corsair family who went AWOL for a while) are the main players down there but they are not 'The Corsair Nation'. They hold the most power admittedly but that doesn't mean they can dictate how the game is played. Thats what the rules are for....
Baconsoda is right about the chat. It's almost as bad as Manhatten. Maybe a concerted push on that front down there corsairs?
One other thing, 400K for landing on Crete?
You should report it to the TBH but then, what were you hauling?
how about someone traslates the disco rules in the ship hold?
I don't mean the discopedia here on the forums, i mean that simple summary you get with a new ship.
stick it up here somewhere in a couple of langauges and we'll have somewhere to point them to...
Something I noticed in those rules is that the 'lol' : ) : -D etc. is not mentioned specifically... It might help a lot if we are specifically clear about those things... (just a short note in there to summarize).
Our main enemy in any place is ignorance... It's the lack of understanding, not stupidity.
Ignorant people can be helped.. fools need to be banned.
If your strategy is to combat ignorance and bring understanding in an attractive manner, you will win 90% of your battles!
I've started rewarding noobies who know 'the basic sirius protocols' ha ha ha.. it works like a charm!
Me: Have you read those protocols?
Noobie : sold em dude : P
Me: wanna earn easy cash?
Noobie: : ))
Me: Check out these protocols (open trade window, give him disco rules)
and when you are ready I will give you $10 000 for each answer you get right.
Noobie: wow! thanks mr.Sirius Servant!
5 questions later, noobie is inducted into disco protocols 101.. heh heh
Now if we had translations somewhere... mmm...
dammit..I just noticed I'm back on my soapbox! *jumps off quickly*
[Edit] come to think of it..I'm posting this elswhere too...
My apologies if this digressed into a /rant, but I have honestly grown quite angry of it....
I do realize that some people on this server don''t speak fluent English, but most of what I am complaining about is the ones who do and do not RP back when I start....

I was actually hauling Optronics to Tripoli looking to land on Crete to procure Artifacts for the way back. Personally I just wanted to RP with him, and do start an RP every time I enter Gamma, stating what I am carrying and what I intend to take back to Kusari.

I think the reason that "lol" isn't stated in the rules is because it is in the "tips for newbies" thread stickied here (or one of those threads stickied here, I've read it before).
This sounds like a good idea. Translating the rules would mean way less rulebreakers....Like the guy pm-ing my last night in Portuguese-English asking for money....
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
