I've been here for almost 4 years now and I can tell you have reported a total of 0 players during that time. Yeah sometimes I got a bit annoyed when people broke rules, but it never became more than a bit annoying. If others wanna report people, fine, but I myself have never found myself in a situation that bothered me so much that I wanted to do so myself.

Alright, I am noticing a pattern here.

Look, nobody is going to judge you if you report someone. It is not about being mad, it is not about having ''self control'' or ''not being bothered''.

This is about the fact, that by choosing not to submit a report, you potentially let the offender roam free and ruin the interaction for other people. This does not matter much for a pirate, because they can get money or, if the trader does something lolwuttish, a blue message and the mental satisfaction.

I really suggest that we abandon the unwritten rule on Disco, that reporting someone is a bad thing. Last resort, sure. But not something to be considered as ''frowned upon''.

Spazzy's right here, how do we make our server clean, if people have pseudo-Omerta attitude when it comes to rule breakers?

Isn't there a limit of the number of reports you can send in per day? If I reported all the rule breaking I see in game every day, I'd probably get sanctioned for sending in too many reports.

Also, "I can't be bothered."

I play this game for fun, by the way. Writing a report - or worse, half a dozen - isn't fun.

I agree with the man, i've been playing this game for not so long, and have been bothered by a number of rules breaking that really pisses anybody off. And at least half of the time someone broke a server rule near me or at me were people with some decent equipment that indicated some time of playing, and if they had read the rules on the forum or were sanctioned before i believe things would have been different.

That goes from silent-traders that shoot on your face without saying a single word (who were flying from 1m ships to 40m vessels), to Lawfulls one line engagers ("engaging", "helping") or to loner Pirates demanding 10 million to a let a BWT pass in order to force a blue message.

The problem is that sometimes those people mess up with some good time of playing you had prior to the encounter, some good brawn you were into in case of a "pvp" (lawfull or pirate) ship or some system flights with cargo in the hold in case of a trader vessel, not to mention that, even if you die by the hands of a rulebraker, you have to respect that two hours break-time, and well, two hours is a lot of time for someone that respect the rules and won't log in another ship to engage anyone again.

If rulebreakers got sanctioned more often it would probably be for the best, so yes, if you got a decent proof, it's best to report.

Rules that are not enforced are meaningless. It's got to be a team effort between players accurately and properly reporting deliberate abusers (not newbs who are learning the ropes, unless they display unwillingness to learn), and the Admins must be diligent in administering justice and punishing players accordingly.

If either side does not do its job, the whole process is worthless.

Case and point.

Start reporting people.

Yes it is an annoyingly long process, but if you don't, nobody will do so in your place.

I don't report people, I try to educate them what they did wrong and that they should check out forum and rules on it.

Nobody manages to insult or annoy me enough to get report from me yet.
