The planet is there so that it can be suicided into. It's not getting removed because there's little reason to, but what I will do is move it so it's not on the same plane as the base, in order to avoid undock-into-atmosphere incidents.
in the actual game. It's a way better to train while fighting an actual fights then to sit in conn until you're perfect because this way you'll stay in conn nursery forever. I, myself, never actually trained in conn - I was there to have a pew when I'm lazy to go around in other systems - and this is the exact problem. People just sit in conn because it's fast and easy pvp where you can have nice duel w\o being ganked to shit.

This should be fixed, remove conn. Ye.
remove connecticut, go out into your ZOI and *BE* your character. There's no training like on-the-job-training, learn when it's time to fish or cut bait/time to *make mud* or get off the pot, time to stop using Conn as a pew-party and get down to the real business of being the character you spent hours designing.
In other words, don't be so afraid of failure. It's time to fly the nest.
I'd like to see a conn-countdown. number of hours logged in rest of server/20=hours available to 'train' in conn

Umm, in the rest of the game, maybe?
It doesn't work and you know it. Or maybe I have to remind you that:
Training involves dying a lot, especially if you are new.
You can die only once per 2 hours in a system or to the same person. No exceptions to that rule anymore.
It would be impossible to train against your actual enemies.
Even if we use guard systems for such purposes, not all factions have guard systems and nobody in his right mind would travel 30 minutes for a training session.
Quite a silly argument. I remember the time when you had to TRAVEL to conn. Also, why train in a guard system? I often just train with members of my faction near some random base of our own faction.
For example, as KNF, I often train by Fuchu or the BS Matsumato

Step 1: Be new to PvP.
Step 2: Make char.
Step 3: Get in an actual fight.
Step 4: Die in 1 minute.
Step 5: Wait 2 hours.
Sorry but this doesn't fit any possible definitions of "fun" or "training".

And this is a bad thing how exactly?

Again, the same thing. How you are supposed to "*BE* your character" if every time you try to do something that doesn't involve a lot of talking you die in a minute or so? Remember, not everyone here is a PvP pro already.

Silly argument (doubtful) or not, how is this relevant in any way to this discussion? Having to travel to Connecticut caused a lot OORP situations (Turtles and Ranseurs passing through NY and such) that are, fortunately, a thing of the past.

How is training near some random base any better than training in Connecticut? Remember you have to gather the faction members in a single place in order to train. In some cases that would require a lot of time that can be spent better. For example flying somewhere out of Connecticut after training.
Last, why are you (4-5 people) that hell-bent on removing Connecticut? If you don't like it don't go there. It doesn't affect you in any way (don't tell me about lag; it happens even with 30 people on the server). Simple.
P.S. I'm not going to argue here about Connecticut's right to exist anymore as it isn't the original purpose of the thread. It seems to work no better than arguing with a TV anyway.

I wouldn't say it doesn't affect anybody...as having a large number of players in Conn means there are less players actually RPing out on the rest of the server. That means less encounters, less interaction, less enrichment of story, and ultimately less fun.
I'm not going to openly push for removing Conn altogether, but I wouldn't miss it. There's nothing you can do in Conn that you can't do somewhere else on the server aside from ignore the 2-hour death penalty. And even that could be waived if both parties agreed to it.

this, and also, i'm no pvp pro. I trained back on FLU24/7 with the WT - there was no 2 hour rule (which used to be a four hour rule btw). It is possible to train by attacking someone's shields only - you don't need to finish them off completely everytime.
