BSs should come with docking modules in the default ship package.

Or at least have point defenses that are better than gunboat/cruiser Solaris turrets.
A properly kitted light transport can kill more snubs than a battleship can survive.
Also, for a ship that goes 90m/s, the vulnerability of being able to be solo kited by anything that has guns with a range more than 1k, and close to zero ability to do anything offensively against a ship with thrusters, the least that can be done is to let the class have some ability to stop snubs from getting too close without dying of laughter. At present, each Sirius BS solaris does only 3800 DPS, with barely enough range to cover its own length.
it means nothing cause it is unlikely it will happen. - not to mention that the docking modules are still kind of useless.
the current battleships are the consequences of what the community asked for - for years.
remember - just some time ago ppl pleaded for battleships not to be allowed or able to trade bats and bots.
that in itself might make sense. but it does take away a vital function of one side HAVING a battleship vs. one side not having one - which is the tactical bonus of a fleet tender if anything.
the continous nerfing of the battleship is the cumulation of many little things that the community ( you guys ) asked for over the years
battleships once had
- 1600ms primaries / 2700 point defense
- thrusters
- CDs
- around 50% of their current hitpoints
their enemies way back would have
- VHF that were able to fire the nova cannon ( 48k damage )
- 2 bombers able to fire dual nova cannons ( but sacrifice a CD )
one might thing - but every VHF able to fire a 48k cannon - thats mad.. yea - but not for the battleship. firstly - a fighter with a nova cannon had no CD. secondly - less burst damage means more effort lining up - compared to the greater burst damage of lets say 150k damage SNAC that fires a lot less frequent - you can dodge a lot more and line up a lot less.
back then - one battleship would put up fair fight vs. around 3-4 VHF ( outcasts having an advantage cause they had the inferno ) or 2-3 bombers
but not all was good then. cruisers were kind of neglected as a shipclass - and be treated as mini and weaker battleships - being hardly a good choice for anything. - and shield running ( while a violation to the rules ) was quite frequently used in order to kill a battleship.
also gunboat teams could rather easily shieldrun-destroy any battleship.
however the moral of it is - "you asked for what they are today"

Well, battleships are broken and they need to be fixed. At the moment, any snub can just fly around 500m from a fully armed battleship and dodge all day with plenty of time to be DPSing, and that's just talking about the one snub in quite possibly a swarm that the BS is actively tracking.
Gunboats and light transports can easily kite battleships, and cruisers have been able to solo battleships for at least two updates.
When will someone create a proper ballancing thread. Stop ballancing ships, ballance factions. Every time some ship gets even with others it just makes another reason for this game to die. Fights are not only duels. And no ship is bad for team fights, it's just how you fly them.

Can't docking modules be given some use then? There's always loads of people complaining about how they're useless, but nothing is ever done.
I think something that'd make docking modules awesome would be:
Can dock ships up to gunboat class on them. Cannont have large or medium transports dock on it though.
Make docking modules use up a lot less cargo space, perhaps even to the point of not using cargo space at all
Make heavier modules for capships: Capship docking modules could allow 2 ships to dock on it per module up to Gunboat class, transports of all types included.
Ye, I agree with the OP. It's kind of pointless to fly a ship that can only survive if you use cloak or jump drive as a "getaway" toy. Bringing a BS very likely means a very short experience for you in a capfight (being focussed on means blowing up very fast) or a slow but silly death against bombers in which you can't do much/anything against them, if they are not total newbies.
Mentioning (broken) small transports here however doesn't help. Comparing a underpowered, big-hitbox class with a tiny-hitbox overpowered class doesn't result in achieving balance.
