Now, I may just be a scrub who hasn't even logged into Disco for over a year, but I'll throw my boner into the pit to be feasted upon by savage dogs.
Y'all mad. You're derailing the main conversation with banal discussions over population growth. This thread has the potential to be a really progressive dialog about the grand-scale pros and cons of disarming the Zoner capital armada. From IRP repercussions such as decreased security in the Omicrons to OORP ones like people feeling like their ships are being gutted.
It wouldn't hurt to have some dev-player transparency, and though the dev team does have the final say, it doesn't hurt to change your decision if the change will, overall, be taken badly. All I'm saying is that this thread is sad to read because I left Disco due to the political mire that surrounds virtually every issue that pops up around here and I'm seeing the same foggy-eyed, angry people bickering when we could all just calm down, step back and try and, y'know, talk.

I've tried time and time again to reason with the Dev team. This isn't even my good post. That one ended up split into twelve because forum breaking.
This was just a rant.
Kaz said "There's a Devs/Admins/Factions chat going on"
I called him out on his BS.
No response from him.
He said "It's unrealistic for you to have these ships so there"
Assuming a 1% population growth (which is realistic for a developed nation, using the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada as examples of modern day developed-ness), and an initial population in 800 AS of 220 million, Manhattan would now have 258.1 million people.
It is a known fact that less developed areas tend to have higher population growth due to factors such as high infant mortality and high requirement for labourers. An explosion of people on Crete would be entirely possible, but highly dangerous.
EDIT: Sources: Wikipedia: List of countries by population growth rates, vanilla infocards (which admittedly may not be scaled properly, but we'll use this as a test), equation N = (K N_0)/(N_0+(K-N_0) e^(-r t)) calculated through Wolfram Alpha.
