The necessity to make multiple chars for various regions seems to be drawback for many. Moving ships from distant systems to where the action is going on also is problematic - often combat is over before reinforcements arrive.
What if, for a price, we could move our ships to other stations and planets, just like we move them to Connecticut?
Naturally it'd work only with at least neutral dockable stations, so no moving BAF IDed fighter to GRN battleship.
For obvious reasons it mustn't work with any cargo in the hold, like in Conn case.
Let's say I type /moveFreeport4.
I enter the command, the server takes fee from my character, and my BAF fighter docked in Omega-3 gets immediately moved to Magellan, to join the fight.
Dunno is that doable (Kaz?), I think it'd be good for our server's activity, but of course any constructive criticism is welcome.
[02:58:00] Max (Echo 7-7): I think it could create rather weird situations inrp; for example, a pirate misses a trader, docks on a close base, beams ahead and then intercepts the trader again on the same ship.
Possible, yes. To prevent that mutiple command use would exponentially cost more, before programmed cooldown time passes.
If someone moves ship to another station right after he just used that command, it doesn't cost 3 M but 9. If he uses it again after that, 27M dissapears from his account.
It wouldn't be profitable for pirates to abuse that command. And they have no warranty local lawfuls won't use it too and just catch them, if they tried to pirate convoy before and got reported on emergency channel.
Why not have many ships? Like... every veteran has?
Not being able to participate in things you like to participate creates the wish to have more ships. In more places. Different kinds. And you end with 20+ accounts that guarantee that you can be at the action with a fitting char in 3-5 minutes.
I am not a great fan of making everything really easy.
I have become very careful and I always try first to imagine how it could be abused to the max. And I can think of a lot of abuses. Let's face it: money is no limiting factor. If I wanted to troll someone I hate, why would I even care about 200 mils for beam-me there? Imagine how silly it would become if hordes of people all beamed into a fighting zone... like neutral bases: Junkers, IMG, Zoners, Freeports. Imagine a shout "Magellan raid!" and a few Emergency channel messages... and 3 minutes later half the server would beam their ships there.
Having to fly, having to be organised and having to have different ships at important places is one of the only things where those with good organisation have an advantage. I wouldn't want to lose the reason why it is good to have a lot of accounts.
Not everyone has been powertrading for a month straight to afford CAU8 battleships everywhere, and often times if you try to fly there you'll end up missing all of the action.
I see little wrong with this, it'll even end up promoting activity.

I agree with Jack. The idea sounds good, but the time flow is too fast. I mean... it does not fit in a realistic RP environment. How will be explained the appearance of a battlecruiser from Texas to Magellan in only 5 seconds? Has been implemented teleportation? Let's be honest: seems more like encouraging powergaming and 'power-pvp'. It's like we will have more Conn systems, theoretically under the roleplaying excuse. No offense, but this will be a mistake that will affect the notion of RP just for some "legal pvp action".

It's going to encourage more stuff like ganking, and it would also encourage OORP revenge. You pass a Blood Dragon in New Tokyo heading to California, so he decides to log his BDM, does this command to move to Cali to blow you up.
Plus, isn't interaction the main goal here? Wouldn't being able to magically poof to bases decrease this?
It's not a "bad" idea, I just don't like it because it seems like it would be too easily abused.
I do like this idea ,however in the current state it will be too abused by players[ex pirate beaming on each station along the route of a trader,etc..]
What if instead of a simple beam command we would get a "jumpdrive mk1" that can be purchased from an npc base ,this version in order to be balanced[as in no jumptrading and no BS spawning in front of you(unless it has mk2,mk3,mk4]
- it can only be installed on snubs and GBs
-it will require coords acquired with a mk3 scanner so that players wont beam themself to every location[since it takes 15mins and @25mil(havent used in a while..) to obtain them]
-fuel and recharge wont be so low either, you won't use it more than once or twice a hour[maybe @5mil per fuel(new commodity)]
People want to believe that God has a plan for them.
They don't wanna believe that anyone else does..
