What offends me is that you hide behind a veil of genuine interest and then dish out that garbage. To quote Thyrzul:

You don't seem like an unintelligent guy and it really isn't that big of a mystery..
1. People are too proud to let the whole server see that they died.
2. People are too proud to know themselves that they got truely beat.
3. People have a cargo (not only traders) that they don't wan't to loose over some pvp that in their eyes may seem unfair.
But I apologise for posting. I must get better at just closing my eyes and move along.
That hurt. Let me quote skype:
"i have had sex many times in skyrim"
Also I imagine you avoid the whole competitiveness in any player versus player game. People get kicks of being better than others, it's what being competitive means. Sure Disco isn't the best platform for playing competitively, but I'm certain any fight can be regarded as a sport game, be it 1 on 1 or team vs team. It's like saying after a match of football - "Sad little virgins for getting kicks (kicks, football, anyone? no? damn it.) from scoring goals!"
Quote:You know what I imagine when people get a kick out of shooting others in a GAME??
Sad..little..virgins..
This made my day. Everybody, who can fly VHF better than you is sad little virgin!
Everybody, who's having better marks in school/university is sad little virgin!
Everybody, who have better job is just sad little virgin!
Also I imagine you avoid the whole competitiveness in any player versus player game.....

I didn't mean to spark another debate, so I'll try to keep it short.
No, I don't avoid that, but everything has it's venue.
We won our league twice when I played football. On the football field.
I often got wrongfully kicked for cheating along with my friend when we played CS under the names "BoomHeadshot" and "InYourFace". When we played CS.
I shoot 190+ with a .22.. On the shooting range.
I don't play an RP game to compete. There are other venues for pissing contests.
If it's so hard to understand that people might be here for other reasons then to pew-pew at the first given chance, then I don't really know what to say.
Peace.

Yes.. Yes, you are right. It's all those people I am referring to. You hit the nail on the head. Everyone is just SLVs.
Whether or not you like it, its in the nature of the game. Competitiveness is an unavoidable part of every game and that is what keeps the whole thing interesting.
You may think of it that way, that there is no competitiveness in a RP game, but all the people dont have the same mindset.Instead of proving your point, deal with it in game and try to be competitive.
Most probably a fight might start on even grounds, and both parties go on with the goal of winning. However when the scales start tipping to one side, the mentality of those involved can and will change.
Like in the movies, those who revel in fighting stronger opponents and keep charging head on while nearing closer to death are rare individuals. Honor bound knights, berserkers, etc. The rest of the people start feeling the pressure of the overpowering enemy. After a while, when the chance of winning is lost, it becomes a battle for survival, and that prompts a different behavior than the "fight to the end" mindset. If there is a way to escape, he will try it, for staying in the same course will lead to defeat.
The mentality of the attacker, of the potential winner, is different. He still fights to win, to neutralize the enemy, to accomplish whatever goal that required the other party to be engaged and destroyed.
Ok, I understand this. I'm not against competing and I don't mind the shootouts myself if it's a consequence of 'valid' RP or if both parties are equally interested in a battle. What I don't like is when pvp-minded players pick on lesser targets and bends the rp to make it valid.
Let me break it down like this:
Imposing your will on others is an unhealthy mentality imo.
And that's what all this boils down to in my eyes. Guy wants to dominate another, gets cheated out of chance and becomes enraged.

Could you define when a player bends his/hers RP to make pvp valid? Or maybe just give an example? Pretty interested about what people consider RP bending, because I mainly play a mercenary/bounty hunter so pvp is what I do.

That is kind of a OORP reasoning you have given there. I wont know who is controlling the enemy ship...so I can never judge his talent. Which makes your "player picks on a newish and weak one" an invalid argument.
And if at all I come to know that you are weak, and I pick on you often, it is called powergaming and you can apply for a violation report and make sure the said player deserves punishment.
Also, if you dont want others to PvP you, fly a very neutral character, and dont annoy anyone... pay the pirates and fly within your ZOI, so you will never face anyone who will PvP you. This works for Zoners and even traders, who are lawful and dont annoy pirates.
You cant fly a nomad character, meet an Order and just simply fly away. Just because, you dont want him to impose his will, that is to kill you, on you, doesnt mean that he should not do that. He is an Order, and acting according to his character, he should have the nomads dead. And acting as per your character, you should have him dead. Both fight and even out. If you didnt want this fight to have taken place, you shouldnt have flown a nomad character. Get it? Its valid RP reasoning to fight, and if there is no RP reasoning to support the fight, you can get him sanctioned.
