Pirating in a Cap is.. ehhh... weird as their thrust speed is low and a smart trader can easily run away from it.
Its even more weird when someone actually flies those 200/400 million ships, around to pirate when he can do it on a gunboat or a bomber.
Quote:Cruisers and BSes can't pirate in practice. Their thrust speed is 130 m/s, so even the heaviest transport can just thrust away, and if you are caught on a lane at a range of 100 meters, then you were probably afk trading, and in that case you fully deserve that.
This.
You simply can't pirate in cruiser/battleship with current speeds. And I think it's good solution-have possibility to pirate, but have troubles with realisation.

EXACTLY bro this is best solution I have heard.I too like to pirate in a GB or Bomber not because I dont have money but because truly there is no fun in pirating in Cap Ship because traders never try to run from you and they just pay and move on.There is next to no RP with them but in GB or Bomber pirating becomes challenging since they try to bug away or even go offensive againsthat pirate if they are in a group and you have nice amount of RP with them.
So you cant change them(who pirate you in their lovely caps) but you can change yourself so that when they are trading they understand true meaning of piracy and learn something from you.
If you're a trader, you should be just happy when you see Cruiser or BS trying to pirate you,'cause you are simply able to run away from them easily, unless you like to have RP with pirates, then it shouldn't really mean anything for you which ship pirate is flying,'cause you can have a proper RP with anybody,no matter what he/she is flying. For a trader, the motive is to run away from the pirate and survive...Or just have a nice chat and pay tax.
And... if you're a pirate,I don't see the reason of your sorrow, unless you're trying to catch traders with big cap ships.
In general, pirates who fly with Cruisers/BS have the only thing in mind, which isn't piracy, but a battle. In group piracy, cruisers and BS are dangerous, but lonely they are just little, tiny cats.
The main reason I have capital class vessels is because I can use them to find an excuse for assaulting the other faction opposing caps that try to pirate in the same area. Then again I do find it fun to make silly demands as a pirate.

And that is alright. Problem that there are many people who raise their demands based on the size of the ship they use. So while some Bomber pilots demand usual 1-3M, there are gunboats demanding up to 5M, and cruisers who can demand 10M in the same system you bought your cargo for 750.000 credits.
In Lane Hackers, our usual demand is based on the cargo of the transport, and most non-mortal-enemy pay less than 2.5M. I even pirate Orcas if I fly one of our PTrans.
Trade vessels have superior speed. They have Battleship scanners. They have the firepower to distract bombers enough and they make any fighter look like a clown with the .87 guns. Activity is low enough to make a lot of runs unchallenged.
Many things help traders. And I did not list them all.
However some pirates always find their way. My call is pirating in transports.
QQ is pointless but I believe the balance struggle between traders and pirates will go on for eternity. It's just the nature of it.

Those two don't go together. If Transport equips BS Scanner, their powercore regenarations is lowered to 10%. So this is only good choice for weaponless transports.
