I cannot be constructive if there is no way to create here. I have watched the development and the administration of this game from the inside and I can safely say that it is broken beyond repair. Everyone is leaving this game except the people who are literally too new to know what they're coming up against, the influx of whom is slowing rapidly.
@ Omicega and Savas if you don't like the game anymore then that's fine, then GTFO, bye.. don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
Posting garbage on a game site you clearly have no interest in anymore is simply childish and selfish. Go enjoy your life elsewhere. Just because you have moved on to a different mod or game doesn't give you the right (regardless of who you are/were, which nobody cares..) to post crap here. Bye
Kaz?? Man I don't know what happened to you here man, but I can't believe it was so bad that your turned on the community like this... I have to utmost respect for you and what you did for us, MANY here do man... just wow..

Go carry on with those lives and other great games you keep talking about before I point out the irony of you sitting on the forum of a game you evidently hate.
Alex: valid point, however some of us can't play right now because they need to cook dinner and do laundry. Which is why I'm trying to discuss a better future.

Brainstorm as much as you like, there is no practical solution to the magnitude of problems in Disco.
Protip: Unless you want people to see you as arrogant and petty, don't refer to others as 'kid' for not matching your opinion.

If you can't stand the fact that something isn't as you want it to be, remove yourself from every medium.
I still have interest in the RP here but the game is fundamentally broken, feel free to remain in denial if you think otherwise.

I call my girlfriend kid. I call my best friend kid. I call everyone I appreciate kid. It's a term of endearment.

Excellent! A point we can agree upon. Yes, the game itself is broken. The Freelancer engine has severe limitations, however what some of us are trying to discuss is ways in which we might make a positive environment and community that would entice new members. Something which is hard when we're all bickering like old biddies. Now, I'm sorry if I inflamed you in any way, I just don't appreciate negativity in what is supposed to be a positive thread.
We don't have too many positive threads on this forum and I'll be damned if I won't fight for it.

This could be a real problem. Again, Discovery is a mod for Freelancer focused on continuing the story started in the vanilla campaign, not the game itself.
The question is: "How can we save this mod?"
The answer is: "Bring more developers on board!"
I can agree with Savas, though it might sound harsh to say that the game is crap ( not really, its just not meant the way it should be, as it is now), it has lost all or most of the old members, and most importantly, the enjoyment, that has been gradually decreasing since the day I started out on the server.
The whole situation is on a decline, with two official factions and no less than 10 members leaving here, 10 members who have been here for a long time. Oh gawd, I miss Dan and his awesome forum RP, the things he did. This is also reflected in game, with the server peaking at less than 100 members. When it used to be around 140 when I started playing.
Its natural, for a game that is this old, to loose players, but all this has happened, within 2 months, and suddenly out of nowhere, 3 of the official factions are no more, with others being sub standardly active. As I said, some miracle, god knows what, might/should happen to keep this game worthwhile playing, and give the players a tough choice when spending their free time on other games.
