I have watched the development and the administration of this game from the inside and I can safely say that it is broken beyond repair. Everyone is leaving this game except the people who are literally too new to know what they're coming up against, the influx of whom is slowing rapidly.
See? What aren't people getting about this? Discovery is past due, it's Life Support is failing, it's family isn't coming to visit it in the hospital anymore. In all seriousness, it's about time someone pulled the plug. Disco cannot, with what resources it has, no matter who is using those resources (Devs/Admins) from this point on. It's not the same. It will never be the same. It's not going to pick up. It's done. Finished. Disco is dying and you can brainstorm all you want, but delaying it isn't going to help anything. I had a lot of faith in this community last year. Now, I have absolutely no faith that this mod will succeed in any way what so ever. At all. If I did, I'd be throwing ideas on the table. However, I have nothing. Not even the motivation to think about thinking about ideas. It's time to let go.
Honestly, who cares about saving the mod. Save yourselves.
Crawl up into a ball and cry for lost time. This game is gone, it's part of history. You can either accept that and cherish the memories, or you can wallow in the present, desperately trying to relive the memories of a world that was only ever virtual in the first-place.
Well, I'm genuinely interested in this theread and there have been some good ideas. Keep it constructive, and when i get home from holidays ill have a proper read of whats being said here.
Disco does have a facebook page, and while the attacks werent good, if people (players as well as devs and admins put the effort in, itll recover.
What im saying is one person cant fix it. Ill be happy to help where i can, but again, i am one person.
Want problems? Alright then, the problems lie not within the method of advertisement or the influx of new players, or that the server got hit. The problem lies with the recent and not so recent changes to this mod overall. Too many systems, still no proper event-team that'll organize player-driven events between the major story parts, the major story arc itself is a freaking joke. Then the changes to the way what players actually can influence ingame, all the same stuff for the same people. The changes to ships and guns which they call "balance". Buffing the capital ships to a ridiclous level. PoBs at all. Admins/Devs that think they know more of the npc-factions as the players that play those factions for years now. Bias. Corruption. Self-enrichment when making decisions.
What this place need ain't changes. It's a complete reboot with someone kicking your collective asses to get back into line how a game should be made to be fun. Equality isn't fun. Call me elitist, but you got to work for what you have in every other game, except here. Here you made all having the same rights, the same gear, the same chances right from the start. And you call it fun for all.
But it's not fun. It's stupid.
There you go. Good day.
What doesn't help is to discuss this on this threat where half of the people says "Log in and shut up" and the other half says "Disco is doom, the final days of the comunity have come". Both statements are ridiculous when are made on the same threat.
We need a private skype group at least and a place where write the proposals and the state of current projects. Maybe dropbox files or a forum if the admins belive that something good could com from this (If not is up to us to prove them wrong, there is not sense in claim a space)
This user talks little to none english. If you find something wrong tell him.

Rather than keeping silent, I'd like to ask: "As a community: Developers, Forum Staff and Players; what can we do to stop the mod from dying, or at least prolong it's life for longer?"
Discuss.
Everything dies. That's simply the nature of life.
When the death rattle actually comes, are you truly convinced you know what it will actually sound like?
People are simply cattle with a heard mentality with simple delusions of independent thought.
Disco will die. that's an absolute, unavoidable certainty, but another absolute certainty is the principal of "Monkey See, Monkey Do"
I'm clueing you in, right here & right now that even though Disco is going to die, you effnuts that keep Banana about its death are the ones ultimately killing it, you overly pious Coconuts.
You can either let it go & let it die, or you can embrace it & help it survive.
You wanna Apple like a little Pineapple pining for the glory days when you joined, driving others away or do you wanna practice what you preach & play the Orange game & inspire newbies to join in & old school vets to return?
I understand the drive to Eggplant about current situations in order to vent & make yourselves feel better, but each & every one of you overthinking Durians pleading to save the mod, are the same overthinking Grapes that don't realize you're driving new blood away in order to Kumquat about what you think you've lost.
Melon & play or simply Mango
Don't pretend you know what Disco's death rattle will sound like when it happens, because odds are, you won't be able to hear it over the sound of your own voices trying to prevent it
