Get out.
Once you quit from a fight like that with your Pussy-Out button, you should be PVP dead. Any ship logically close to death, would in actuality take weeks to months of repair time. not mere seconds.
Its dickish
its OORP
its metagaming
so No. Its not a valid tactic.
Are you new to Disco? Base-hugging, bot-swapping from friends in non-hostile ships, cloak piracy (before it was fixed), people here will do anything to avoid taking a death.
Jumpdrives are a cool feature. Before 4.86 I never dreamed something like that could be implemented, same with PoBs.
You could say that jumping out of battle is a tactic, fine. But rejoining the fight with a fully restocked ship, jumping out again near death and repeating the process again and again just gets annoying for the other side and it doesn't make any sense. If there are multiple jump ships, it really becomes frustrating.
The only way to kill a jumping BS is by heavy ganking, there is no other way to do it in 30 seconds.
Jumpdrives are also usable only on some battleships, those with largest cargo space. Battleships with smallest cargo space can't even use the jumpdrive without sacrificing armor, few turrets and even downgrading the shield or you must have someone to carry the fuel for you... while those with largest cargo space, such as Rheinland BS and few Carriers can combine it even with a CAU5-CAU6 and still jump without anyone's help.
Jumpdrives really need some tweaking, as now, on some caps they're OP and on most others they're useless.

The basic principle is to get in a fight, wreck things and when close to dying jump to a safe location and come back into the same fight in around 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat, it's a win win situation. Something has to be done and here are a few ideas:
1. Increase the mk3 charge time by 2 or 3 times. This will give us a bigger window in which they can be taken out.
2. Make the mk3 easily destructible by a few novas, something like thrusters. Bombers with novas and capships with missiles would be proper counterplay to this.
3. Increase the cargo it requires or hfuel needed to jump. That way they won't have a cap 8 aswell, but something like a cap 4. P.S. I don't consider 10 cloaking battleships ambushing the BS with mk3 and killing him in less than 30 seconds "counterplay".
Discuss.
Just 3 are more than enough. Ask Titanbot, he managed to blow my Dragon up back then when I was still playing this mod.
That is, if he's still around.
Actually, screw it, just 1 cloaker is enough, rest is done by bomber force. If they use their brainZ.

Eh, I see this place is still the same.
Please, don't forget to come up with an idea how to make JDs useful for something else, rather than escaping out of combat.

If someone goes to all that trouble of buying costly fuel and entering coords/blind jump just to avoid death,
Let them.
Unfortunately people do that and its most annoying when you are in 1V1 fight in a Battleship and this thing happens.
If you're in 1v1 Battleship fight, how is jumping out different from hitting the cruise button?
P.S. That being said, the whole thing is easy to fix (IF the fix is required). Just increase the charge time, reduce the consumption accordingly, leaving the total amount of fuel required to jump the same as it is.
45 or 60 seconds would be quite enough.
P.S.2: What Govedo said about "Battleship vs 2 bombers" or "Battleship vs Cruiser" scenarios.

It is different because jumping is the only chance that battleship still have to run.
Everything under GB now cruises faster then battleship so even the casual transporter can catch up and CD the retreating cruising battleship.
IF the devs had a bit idea about balancing they would had made battleships to cruise at 390, however the charge up times should be at least 50 seconds. Battleships should be ultimate tactical weapon if supported and equipped properly, now it is just free blue msg or bot feeder/resupply abuser.
