I never thought in all my years that a feat of this magnitude could be accomplished in such a short amount of time. Then again, seeing Dr. Todd and his Nano-Tech Fabrication Array produce results with such speed should have clued me. That machine was incredible...

Ta time has finally come! Our teams here are rather ecstatic over the move t' ta new laboratory built around our primary core. Smaller labs of course are used to house secondary test environments for our research staff to continue. As seen below, the new station, dubbed "The Spark", is seen in all her glory:
Ta core sphere as mentioned in my previous log acts as a suspension for ta core, thus allowing for ta least amount of equipment t' be disrupted or destroyed due to ta unstable nature. Luckily, thanks t' ta efforts of Dr. Winterton, we have found that input/output fixtures surrounding ta core allow for arcs t' gather any unstable energy outputs into controlled bursts for study. We're hoping with this new facility that we can limit such arcs, and ultimately quell ta need for any type of controlled arc-reactions and reach stability.
As you can see here, we're approaching ta backside of ta Spark, which houses ta immense energy coils t' gather said energy discharge via electrical arcs. A portion of that energy is of course used t' power ta station, while ta rest is stored in large battery banks:
It is a marvel to behold, such a sustainable core like this. I don't want t' be too optimistic, but I feel we are close t' perfecting this hybrid core, as well as constructing a final frame t' house such a specimen.
It is also nice t' see finally ta Ingenuus Research Group having it's own facilities with which t' work out of. Brings a smile t' my face as this is ta first thing I see when stepping out of ta shuttle onto ta Spark...
Reports shall increase in frequency as our research is starting t' speed up.
As much as I was enthralled over the Spark and the researchers moving constantly like ants in a hive, my sights did eventually switch to what Dr. Todd brought with him. A Nano-constructor, of unique design. I never would've thought that such a small piece of machinery would eventually create such a monumental vessel that dwarfed even the Spark...

So I've been readin' ta logs from Rachel and I must say... I'm impressed! Definitely wouldn't be here without her and her help with this project. But this new ship. Ta one Dr. Todd brought. Damn, it is a beauty. A proprietary design by ta doctor, it has ta ability t' create a super structure within days, not years. I've taken ta liberty of uploading ta design here, with specific pieces undisclosed of course.
Now, onto how this machine can be programmed t' assist in ta core itself. Being a Nano-constructor, one of ta key factors is that it doesn't just create structures using nano-bots, but it manufactures ta nano-bots themselves.
Now, what makes this of much use t' me and ta research for ta core, is ta properties of ta nano-bots. You see, these tiny machines assist in ta manipulation of matter with at least one dimension sized from 1 t' 100 nanometers, or 1 E−9 m. With being able t' work within such small parameters, it reflects ta fact that quantum mechanical effects are something t' watch out for, and is important at this quantum-realm scale.
Within this quantum-realm scale, ta use of specific equations and possibilities, specifically quantum tunneling, becomes something t' consider. How this relates t' ta core is like this: You have a large energy source, prevalent with radiation and ta occasional energy surge that can disrupt nearby instruments. But, you create a type of shielding, ta prevent these surges. You have t' separate them in such a way that gives certain freedom t' ta source, but still contained in a safe environment. Now, in order for quantum tunneling t' occur, you need ta shielding t' be uniformly spaced arrays of inputs. Here is where ta nano-bots come in. Create a hexagonal barrier around a spherical power source, only nanometers thick, and it should ensure that any radiation or energy spikes are contained by ta nano-bots.
While ta hexagonal shield should be extremely effective in containing ta core, that is not all we need it for. It can be furthered by using quantum tunneling t' handle said surges and ta nature of ta energy collisions. Ya see, when a energy wave encounters an array of uniformly spaced barriers, being ta hexagonal nano-shield, ta inputs on ta barrier interferes and displaces ta wave uniformly with ta transmitting outputs between all barriers so that ta energy reaches 100% safe transmission towards ta relays that can be spread throughout a structure or ship. This theory predicts that if ta energy hit ta barrier in a uniformed way, ta safe energy that can be harnessed will tunnel through ta nano-shield as free energy, leading t' an extremely high conductance. Then ta bulk of ta energy that would otherwise destroy any relays or outputs we had in place, would be absorbed back into ta core. All thanks t' ta nano-bots!
I'm quite excited t' see how Rachel and ta other researchers can use this theory and find some results in a few test environments, before seeing how t' apply this t' ta main core itself.
Seeing Rachel's and my ideas coming to fruition, I remember telling myself to ignore budgets, and go straight for the gold. Seems like it paid off in the end. But anyway, I remember the day I got her report, and say that we could actually move past prototypes. To actually deal with the core itself...

I can't believe it... Rachel used my theory and made it into something viable! This is incredible. We can finally work on ta core itself. According t' her though, ta Spark was too small. A larger structure, or as she said "vessel", would have t' be built. Having come here in ta previous iteration of ta Ingenuus, being a Nephilim-class vessel, we had many of ta resources in order to construct a vessel around ta core, instead of building ta core in a previously constructed ship.
For ta other materials, hard t' say. Even if some of us researchers left t' bring in more commodities, it still wouldn't be enough. We'll have t' see if either ta Reapers or if allowed, other groups or organizations.
This excitement is killing. I just hope ta other systems are ready for this should we succeed...
Funny how things turn out. If it wasn't for Rachel's discovery, we would've never experimented with the possibilities unknown at the time of us delving into the core. Not knowing if would work or not, we still made the attempt. Funny looking back on it now though... Who would have thought.

Not sure how t' start. Ta implications are incredible. Rachel's test with ta core's EM properties have led t' what I believe is a inert EM field surrounding it. It's not as powerful as you would think, but if ta right calibrations can be met... Oh, it's incredible.
Let me back trace a bit. What we discovered is that this EM field has ta same readings that you would find in cloaking devices. Yes, let me repeat that. A inert ability t' produce a cloaking field. Unlike conventional cloaking devices that have an integrated multi-mode fusion power plant that runs off a variety of fuels, this could potentially be a self-contained cloaking ability that requires no fuel. I've taken ta liberty of running some computer simulations t' show ta core's effect:
Simulation of how a cloaking device would work. Cloaking device deactivated: Light is reflected and absorbed by the object, causing it to be visible
Simulation of how a cloaking device would work. Cloaking device active: Light is deflected around the object, causing it to be invisible
Normally, conventional cloaking devices are created in a variety of manners in order to be best fit t' specific ship classes or sizes. If my calculations are correct though, and we can tune into ta EM field project by ta core, we could manipulate this into... well, almost any size we want, granting t' core can handle such an increase in a otherwise minuscule field.
I will update ta logs once further testing has been initiated, and if these simulations prove true.
The power core was in a usable state. The engines in theory, and in prototype worked beautifully. The shield system, even though it was slightly awkward at first, appears to be running at a wonderful capacity. What was missing, the hull for the vessel. Something large enough which we could harness the power-core, while using the space as facilities for what is to come afterwards. The Core needed to be built up, it has been done. It has been studied enough to working standards. There is much to be done, but until then, first things come first.
Finn McCool has put me on the task for looking through ancient databases on the old Nephilim designs. The Zoners had a vessel large enough for it, however.. We came across something even more interesting. Something which we feel will work quite a bit better in the circumstances we currently have things. The Nephilim class was itself derived from an ancient relic found long ago. Zoners at the time, determined that this ship was constructed of a similar technology which we are using heavily in the Core moderation. Nanobots. Using the old schematics, which were hell to find mind you, we managed to design a vessel from the ground up, using a similar shape to the one we have found within the old designs. Yet altogether, it was unique to house the energy source which has kept Ingenuus running all this time.
Time consuming doesn't even begin to explain what this process took. Installing everything that we have created was perhaps the most boring, yet interesting part at the same time. Watching the fruits of our labors being put together is admittedly, quite unimaginable. Yet the results could not have been better. The compatibility systems seem to fit in quite well with what we have designed. Granted there are many adjustments that needs to be made. The engines were not set up for the mass of the chassis of the vessel, the whole thing is out of sync. The shield systems need to be set up with the proper shape and intensity. And perhaps most importantly, the Life Support needed to be verified that all areas were properly kept as a safe environment. I suppose we should get to work on the Hull soon, these plans are looking beautiful.
It's empty right now. I don't expect it will be for long however, it looks like once we make sure the thing works without going supernova (As cool as that sounds, that was a slight joke. I don't think it would be 'that' big) we will begin setting up the rest of the Ingenuus facilities.
Besides that? We have so much to get done still! The strange occurrence with the properties made to bend light are something we should look into still, coming up with solutions on which we could use the core externally when it's installed is still something we are going to look into. Perhaps batteries? I am still unaware. Until then, I don't think we'll be done looking at the thing. We have so much work we need to get done. This is merely a large advancement. Progress, over time.
We were all surprised when schematics were found. Well, I should say we found a rough hull scan, nothing of it's internal workings. Seems those were removed a long time ago. Who knows if those will be revealed at a later date. Regardless, what we had suited us well...

Remind me t' give Rachel a bonus... She time and time again surprises me. I told her t' look at various designs for use in our plans for a vessel t' house our core, and what she found was more than I could've dreamed of. She actually found ta original hull schematics for ta ancient "Nephilim" class Juggernaut, hidden deep within ta files of ta data bases on Livadia Shipyards. Unfortunately, only ta hull images were found. All internal workings were removed sadly. Regardless, what we had was blueprints of a old vessel that with some decent re-designs, that can be used as a permanent vessel t' use ta core t' its full potential.
One we had ta Nano-constructor from Dr. Todd de-construct ta old "Ingenuus" frame, as well as ta shipments from ta IMG and ALG, we had enough resources for ta Constructor t' begin it's work. Despite it's speed, we still believe that construction will take quite some time. I'm hopeful though!
It's fascinating though, I must say. Watching ta constructor begin it's work, even on a microscopic level, was incredible. It seemed that it was constructing nano-tubes t' provide ta frame of each building block so t' speak.
A nano-tube being assembled
What is even more fascinating about such nanotubes, is their strength and flexibility. We discovered on accident just how strong ta potential was. A stray rock flew by and smashed into ta beginning blocks of ta vessel, what we saw was impact dust, but no actual damage. When we looked closely and ran more simulations, we discovered that ta hull that we were developing was so strong yet flexible that adjacent t' some scoring on ta surface, ta impact epicenter would slightly bend, absorbing majority of ta impact.
Simulation of nanotube bending t' an impact
Remarkable really. Regardless, construction of ta hull is proceeding on schedule. Instead of creating sheets that are combined, ta hull is put together in blocks, all held together by these nanotubes. An example can be seen here.
Nanoblocks in construction
As we watch our facility being constructed, I am still intrigued as t' ta progress in stabilizing ta EM field around ta core for use t' hide our facility. We'll see what Rachel comes up with...
The wait was long, but it was nice seeing the construction right in front of you. I remember being in more and more awe. But, while I didn't have much more to do in terms of the construction, I set my eyes on something more... grandiose.

Construction work is proceeding nicely. Seems like we may actually get out ahead on schedule! It's amazing watching this constructor doing ta job in such an organized and concise way... and in such quickness. Like constructing ta nanotubes to be used in the blocks, even something more remarkable - Everything is built in sections, that then combine or "morph" together. These gigantic plates that then form together like a puzzle.
Nanoplates being combined
When these plates are combined and then subsequently pieced together, The nanobots then remove sections within forming ta hallways and passages. T' be able t' construct in such a way truly could revolutionize ta building of ships and even stations. We'll have t' look more into this.
Corridor within the plates
It seems too t' be building from front t' back. So far it is about halfway done within ta forward hull, but now is where ta true test comes in - The engineering section. Hopefully it will go smoothly, but t' assist we have a team of engineers under Dr. Todd who are able t' enter via a hanger bay t' monitor and fine-tune ta Constructor's nanobots.

While construction is still going full throttle, I thought I'd actually take some time t' assist with ta core itself, and how t' actually make practical application of it. With all of our test environments and miniaturized cores from siphoned energy of ta main core, it's time t' focus our efforts into seeing what applications we can use for these.
With one mini-core, about ta size of a fist, we've seen dramatic performance increases in most electronics. From a simple data tower, t' an entire data room, it produced more than enough than needed. So what we wanted t' do is create hand-held, universal power sources, based off ta original core design and energy.
A prototype was actually just finished, and I'm happy t' share that now! Below you will see ta core itself, with minimal protection minus ta nano-hex shielding.
Miniature Core
Once we had this core ready, we designed a ablative-alloy case t' house ta core, thus allowing for movement by conventional means without feeling ta risk of being exposed.
Core housing
As I mentioned previously, we do now have a working prototype. It is designed t' eventually be a universal power source, with a wide range of objects being able t' connect with it. Using 6 slots within ta housing, each with thin retractable covers, it will allow any number of devices t' plug into any if not all of ta ports. Should open up a number of possibilities!
Finished Prototype
We'll see what ta others think, and how we can make practical use of these...

Well my friends, it's done. Ta answer t' our problems for a suitable vessel with which t' house ta Core. After weeks of constant building from ta nano-constructor within Antikythera, and ta massive amount of scaffolding holding her in place, ta hull of ta Ingenuus is complete!
Scaffolding over the bridge with nanobots working
That constructor, along with those incredible microscopic nanobots have done a miraculous job. It is breathtaking.. absolutely breathtaking. Taking a small trip aboard one of our vessels, seeing the hull complete from afar is a sight t' behold. We cannot wait until ta internal systems and core housing is complete, and we can begin her maiden voyage.
View of the Ingenuus hull
We are near ta end of this lengthy project. Years of hard work, and ta fruits of our labor are coming t' completion.
The day had come. It was complete. All our work had finished. It was soon time to begin her maiden voyage... and the beginning of the end.

It's done. With Rachel's contributions t' ta internal systems, an' with ta core housing ready for implementation, we are finally ready. Ready for all our hard work t' bear fruit, and start moving all of our equipment over t' ta new labs aboard her.
Finally... she's ready. With ta crews removing ta core from ta Spark, we carefully moved it t' ta Ingenuus.
Core removal
Once we had t' core removed, and stationed in ta housing, ta Nano-Shielding began t' take shape and morph around it. Forming a solid structure around ta core, it slowly but surely took hold an' began integrating and drawing power. Electrical systems started turning on, life support becoming active, and ta heart of ta beast coming t' life.
Shielding around core in solid form
Making our way onto ta Ingenuus, we headed towards ta bridge where we are now. Gravity worked, oxygen levels as they should be, and ta core still increasing in power till it reach optimal status.
Core Monitor
Images from ta crew outside, viewing ta final implementation of ta Core, an' watching it power up started spewing in. Without a hitch, it worked. In all of my years I have never seen something so beautiful... Ta heart of ta Ingenuus.
The Ingenuus Core
All systems ready, all teams accounted for. The maiden voyage is about to begin...
