But the problem isn't the snubs having bots, the problem is PLAYERS who keep bot feeding from caps.
Or....remove the botts/batts from CAPSHIPS, and compensate for a 75% increase in hull hp.
Why can't snubs just get a hull buff to the amount that they normally would have with bots then?
Between caps and snubs, it makes less sense for snubs to be able to repair themselves than caps - because big ships actually have entire portions of the crew being devoted to making battlefield repairs.
Because it's not the snub players who are doing the abusive bott feeding. If you can't control the players, best you can do is stop their means of abuse.
I guess it's really same difference whether you want to take botts away from snubs or caps, but snub fights would be.ridiculously shorter.

Unlike caps, snubs are quite prone to being instakilled by a variety of weapons or combinations of weapons. Mineramming someone just as they drop your shields and drop a mine of their own can end poorly, for example. Shotgun setups with mini razors can shotgun a fairly wide variety of ships.
SNACs are a pretty well-known example, too.
Instakills make snub fights quicker, which I would say is a good thing.
I haven't seen caps get instantly killed very often. Therefore, 'merging' their bots into their hull has far fewer balance implications than doing the same for fighters.
Hell, a fair few HFs and LFs are balanced almost entirely by their low base hull allowing for instant kills with a single nuke mine.
Remember that we also have an Armor Upgrades which multiply the base hull value by certain number. A lot of rebalancing need to be done before things work if you'll go for nanobot removal. The solution is to:
1. Keep bots\bats for fighters - it's okay I guess for them to have some repairs.
2. Remove Bots\Bats from anything with nanobot amount over 150 (this includes super heavy fighters).
3. Compensate 1\2 of possible repaired hull (by bots) to the ship's base hull value.
4. Separate Capital Armor Upgrade branch from Universal Armor Upgrade branch (need to get a rename into Fighter Armor Upgrade).
5. Rebalance (dramatically nerf) the multipliers on capital armor upgrades and make ships w\o bots to be unable to mount fighter armor upgrade.
6. ...
7. Profit.
I just stop fighting and go away when a "fighter" takes bots/bats from a battleship. Which was the case yesterday, and most of the times in New York.
It is acceptable, say, for fighters to feed off snubs, since that will make the other one vulnerable. Or battleships feeding from other battleships. But vessels of different class engaging in bot feeding is just meh, kills the fun, thrill and the real challenge of PvP.
