If you don't have time to RP then don't log in.
Ive done it countless times. If they say they dont want to RP i tell them to dock to the closest base and ill follow. Then they can do whatever RL situation they have to deal with. If they don't decide to dock then they better RP... If they wont RP and want to act like some little brat then the get a blue message.
Especially if thy are a navy officer and im a pirate or the being the other way around.

Doesn't it happen exactly like that inRL? You just ignore something you don't want to bother with, unless you consider yourself being forced to deal with it.

On the other hand, I always found it amusing and weird when, say, 2 opposing militaries meet on the battlefield and engage in discussion, instead of attempting to act closer to some military-style of communication between themselves and not paying much attention to what his adversaries say. This part of Discovery's "roleplay" is quite immersion killing.

I also always found it weird that local community puts a "=" between "Roleplay" And "Chatting/verbal/other means of Communication".

I can't see where the problem is when my character does not want to talk to certain kinds of people. Unless it's absolutely necessary in order not to get blown up, my explorer wouldn't talk with criminals at all. Is that against the rules? If that is the case, you should make it clear that inRP behaviour does not count as RP.

Looks like most of the people who answered here never used or never heard of the /ignore command.
I have used it and it's doing good when people really want to annoy you.

I don't see why we have to force players to chat if they don't want to, if the said player doesn't want to reply just move on.
[sarcasm]: How about adding a new rule like: "Not answering to an ingame reply within 5 minutes will get you banned for 5 hours"
