Right I don't know if some people really read it but
The scrip that Gronath made is finished
But it has never been tested on a database of disco size (~8 000 chars now)... and it won't get tested for reasons that I don't really get. So nobody knows how long it will take.
My view is that if it's under 15 mins and it's run once a week or once per two weeks only it should be no problem.

And yes you would still need to work on relations with friends and neutrals.. while you will be red to those you should be red to.
This will actually be much less work for admins in the long run.. since a lot of ooRP docking/pirating in front of lawfull bases and similar stuff will disappear.
---------------------------------------
Oh and btw. I have met people around that told me I can't shoot on them since I'm not red to them... they said that they thought that buying ID fixes it.

If there's a single line of code that edits names, it shouldn't be TOO hard to add in one that adjusts rep based on a template...
There is a single line of code for names because a name is a single line. Its ONE SINGULAR thing that needs to be edited. Each faction is a specific thing, hence needs to be edited separately. If Gronath could get his thing working to perfection it would be a different story. But, "REP HACK" certificates that are done by Admins on a regular basis is not going to happen.

ON MY WAY OUT OF RETIREMENT
I'm not sure if this has been suggested already (skin reading = win) but what about a player command? I know some servers have it. For example "/reset Corsair" would log you out for a few seconds while changing your rep table to a pre-designated "Corsair" template.

People would abuse it massively. Imagine a trader jumping to a system and changing the rep to suit the factions in it.
Ok. I like a lot what I'm reading here. I'd scrap the admin done rep fixes and go for Gronath's enemy fixer once or twice a week.
Another idea is that would it be possible to make a Rep Freeze certificate which would freeze the current status when mounted? This would preserve the hard work put to acquiring the rep. Even this would help a lot.
This conversation is over my head but reps would are a pain in the butt putting me situation that dont make perfect sense. Id pay battle ship fees for a rep fix or, maybe I can get sanctioned just not tooooo sanctioned.

This is one thing I'm quite positive isn't possible. Thing is, there isn't in the game a mechanic of applying/changing/keeping the reputation when you buy/mount a certain item, only the bribes, and there's no "freezing" them. Closer we have to that is changing the way the game interprets you killing NPCs. Not changing your reputation so much with factions other than the one you're killing NPCs of.
Speaking of bribes...
Quote:Well i never thought it would be "easy" in the first place. I'm no "pro" modder but i have played with the ini's and scripts alot and i think it would at the very least be worth exploring the possibility. If nothing else i would think the effectiveness of bribes could be raised to accomplish nearly the same thing.
Exp: Buy a bribe and you become so friendly to the people you bought the bribe from that all the right factions would instantly become red to you.
I have to admit I didn't think much before saying bribes wouldn't be enough. I don't know if they're configurable (I bet they are), but if they are, one could tweak them enough to make the job both sides (perhaps not correctly aligning), since they just fix various reputation levels. If they are configurable, they could be tweaked to reproduce the ideal rep. board for a member of a faction, whatever that may be. This solution is much better than the one I've come up with, because the workload of fixing the reputations is greatly distributed. Another problem is convincing the already existent characters to take the correcting bribe...
You are MEANT to work for your Rep, that is the basis behind mission rep rewards and bribes. Otherwise, people would just pick a rep they wanted and have it without having to do anything.
Granted, it is sometimes a pain in the rear to have to grind missions for navy etc. but it gives you valuable respect for your characters, and keeps character creation in check. People could create ten characters on the same day and have them all set up within two hours this way.

...
That is why the program I've developed only makes red the people that should be red, it doesn't even touch allies. So, people would still have to work for their positive reputations.
