Again....rule clarifications like this will affect no-change in players who already play the game fairly and by the rules. It only effects those who try to skirt them or ignore them outright.
Except that a lot of players have donated to the server. And when Igiss left it functioned like a democracy.

How so exactly? I was on staff before & after Igiss left & I can tell ya from experience, this place has never functioned like a democracy since the day I joined...Laddie & Joe have explained the reality of how it is damn near perfectly.

Just look at the number of devs in the 4.85 credits. Everyone helped.
The server is as much a democracy as the United States is. I'm not going to pretend I understand how or who decides who the Admins are, but it definitely isn't any system of direct voting.
I agree with the previously mentioned point that if someone is going to be sanctioned/banned for trolling without evidence, then it should be a unanimous decision from the Admins. I'm sure we'd all like to think that the Admins work without bias when they look at sanctions, but we also have to realize that they're human, and have opinions, and thus can't be completely unbiased.
I think some of you forgot how lucky you are to have this sanctioning process. In a massive lot of other communities, there is no evidence. You just get banned if you're toxic and no matter how much you yell it will not change a damn thing.
Some people learned how to be as toxic as they wished to be while being unsanctionable. It's about time these individuals are dealt with.

I can see now where your misunderstanding is...Making contributions to the mod doesn't equal a democracy. I believe the word that you're calling democracy is better described as collaberative
I thought long about replying here, what with me being a relative newcomer and everything, and then I realised that exactly this caution is the reason that the Admins have probably made this anouncement.
I will not elabourate any points already made, but I wanted to write some thoughts down.
During and after the french Revolution lived somebody who was quoted to say : Allowed is what pleases while not harming yourselfe or others.
Everybody is talking about Freedom nowadays, about rights, Votes, commitment. But a community is - in on form or the other - only as *free* and as just as the members it consists of. And a Leader or the people in power must know that and try to steer the community, or normal human entropy will be the force working to desintegrate the community. Greed, avarice, envy, hate... we are our own worst enemies and always will be.
I wondered about the Admins, about rule mongering and sanction wars. And decided to play this game. Because of the flair, because of the shady places and explosive conflicts, because of the people I met who struggled on while trying to dream theiy very own dream on Disco, and telling others about it. And I tried to evade TroubleTrolls as far as possible.
As I see it you always have the choice. The ability to choose between constructive work and destructive capabilty.
But if somebody starts talking about *good* or *evil* , they start being manipulative. Laws will be broken, power will be abused.
Its normal, has always happened and always will happen. And it takes an awful lot of work and dedication in RL to only START working against human entropy. While this still is a game...
A game / to game / gaming : playing at a series of actions to train and learn for later life
So : The argument that *this is a game* to abuse , cheat , manipulate ... nope, thank you. Not enough.
Neither in RL nor in any other universe I choose to *live* in.
Be creative, be constructive. Play WITH others, not against them. Try out roles like underdog, like supporter, like rebel, or even hopelessly unsocial drug addict and guntrigger junky *cough*.
But remember : others have the same goal. And only if we all do not forget that its NOT *all about me* can this community realy live.
To Admins : I trust you put enough blood, time and sweat into this universe. Ceep it up, will you ?
I trust your motives , so I must trust you. And I suppose I do. Enough to be playing with you all, after all ;-)
I do not suppose that I have to quote things like *who observes the observers* and so on, or this Server would never have lived so long. So, 2 cents out.
Upon more careful re-reading of the post, it seems that from a practical application, even with the "without evidence" line being pointed out, nothing really changes.
We already had a rule before, which would allow the admin team to smack players operating destructively while within the server rules- 0.0.
Later on it was the "right to smack people harming server gameplay" and now changed to "Ensure the health of the community/server"
So in short, nothing really changed with this. More of a reminder of the fact that the rule still exists and people are willing to use it.
