I believe that some of the mistakes done to the mod and the server was increasing system numbers between Omicron Gamma and Alpha.
What I am pointing to is the Outcasts and Corsairs. No more battles between them as before. No Corsairs means no Red Hessians to log in and no Corsairs and Outcasts mean no buisness for Reapers of Sirius.
Before in 4.86 and pre versions there used to be route: Alpha > Eta > Theta > Gamma and there used to be a lot more interaction between the factions stated. Someone placed enough systems inbetween so neither factions log these days. Not to mention the loss of Sails and The Brotherhood also some other factions . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IfMHcQayUk
Not its Alpha > Beta > Eta > Sigma 17 > Theta > Gamma.
I do realize that it is school / work time but this was a major mistake done to the server.
If you noticed that there are more mistakes now post freely.
That would be great, Corsair - Outcast encounters and battles have decreased greatly due to the distance between Alpha and Gamma. It would be great if it reverts back to the original short one. :}
I have to agree. Players are simply lazy, and when you spend 20+ min to get to your desired battlefield, you can see that none bothers to log. "Battlefield" systems like Omicron Eta simply do not work, there's no reason for either faction to stay there waiting and doing nothing. Another example would be New Hampshire. It simply is dead, RNC still goes through Bering, although it now takes longer to travel.
They end up being useless buffer systems that are unused and do not really offer anything but delay. In my opinion, these systems should be removed to make traveling times shorter and allow players to get to their desired battlefield easier/faster. The economy should be adjusted to those changes as well. But what should never happen is that system layout is adjusted to economy.
That is one of the major mistakes you have spotted. I would simply like to have Eta as the middle battlespace for both OC and Sairs, with the minefields removed. So basically, the route would be a lot better if it was Alpha-Eta-Theta-Gamma. Nothing else is really satisfactory.

This. I don't want to fly 20+ minutes to shoot things for 5.
Agree, this must be fixed in sake of bringing back some activity. I enjoy being member of the Contari Lance and The Brotherhood, but there isn't anything to shoot at.
Second major problem: I would compleetly forgot gates between Rheinland and Liberty. I would behave like "this never happened" In purpose of saving activity, now it is rare to see turtle in Texas, becasue it is torture to pass Bering with it. There were epic raids both in Texas and Hamburg, now it is almost dead space. Please fix that. I know only roleplay way to do it is peace with Liberty, but peace can't return activity, Krieg can! Freelancer is about action. Even if this is RP server. I would correct it in ooRP way. Simply bring back gates.

Erm.... You dont get said raids anymore because TBH isn't active. Not because of a few systems. and I have raided with some guys on my said too one time and we went to Malta and stayed there for 30 mins.... No one showed up. We just went to pirate somewhere with more activity.
SO BASICALLY both sides need to start being active.
I raid Alpha with my Murmillo from time to time, but if those two systems were closer, Alpha would take a lot less time to reach and, logically, it would happen more often, although I'm not sure the Outcasts really want that.
I can put my Murmillo in Sigma 13, but then it would take a lot longer to reach Bretonia.
@ The bloke who eats a lot and is clumsy with CMs: If the systems were closer, hostile incursions would happen more often, which would cause the two sides to log more often, which would cause some blokes to buy their ships, which would cause yet more hostile incursions, and so on.
