Area Denial via POB's - Want this gone?

Our workload for our numbers is already high enough. I'm unsure how a system like that would work, there would be delays. Delays in cases of bases will most likely make base owners unhappy.

Id rather have a delay and still have a system of checks and some action round the base than all this chitchat about "PoB bad, U bad, shoot PoB".

I admit that the necessity of an Admin check like the review with core upgrades would load even more on your sholders, but after seeing the next round on the merry go round against PoB´s I still had no better idea.
And I still think that if the base can be disabled temporarily - for a day, for a week - in connection with all installed modules or facilities being destroyed after a successfull siege but without the base being destroyed outright would be a sensible thing, giving an achievement to atackers and a certain measure of security to PoB owners.

Haven't voted anything, but for sure PoB's like this should be relocated. Additional I think system lockdown (means locating base back at some jumphole or whatever) can be requested with the mandatory RP behind.

Read through the thread and all arguments seem reasonable to me.

Yes, there are pros and cons to haveing POB's in certain areas, especially if they affect gameplay for various people/groups, but, if it's in RP and there is an alternate route to get where you need to go -or- another area where you are to do whatever it was you were planning to do, then I don't see any reason to move them.

That being said, POB's that have been purposely placed to hinder as many players as possible...... they should be either moved elsewhere, as it does take a HUGE amount of resources to make any sort of worthwhile base -or- in extreme cases removed totally.

Bases in very close proximity of jump gates / holes along regular routes, and directly within mining fields have proven to be detrimental to gameplay.

The best example is probably the Corsair POB in front of the 41 jump hole in Gamma. They probably thought it was a good idea at the time, that it made sense in roleplay to defend the route.

Unfortunately, that base literally killed Corsair activity pretty much entirely, there is no other way to describe it. Before it was built, Gamma raids were fairly common and Corsair activity greater than zero, at the very least.
Never again.

Experience shows that we cannot rely on people taking a more tedious approach when the obvious one isn't possible. In the Gamma example, Hessians didn't start going through Theta, they simply stopped raiding altogether.
There aren't even huge amounts of very problematic bases on the server. Probably less than ten.
But honestly, they should all be moved.

As for newly constructed bases, either implement a rule (or even an FLHook check if possible) to prevent them from being constructed in such locations, or at least deny them upgrades.

The basic problem is that totally eliminating routes or piracy locations simply isn't something that should be in the hands of a player / a group of players. It is just too big of an influence on gameplay.

The new Core upgrade requirements make these "blocking bases" more or less impossible to build and maintain anymore.

All of the previously major disruptive bases have either been moved or.destroyed, and bases have since.been made easier to.destroy, so I have a hard time seeing how this topic is still relevant.

Dunno, when Malaclypse Freeport blocked the entrance to Baffin via Tau 29 to unwanted guests, some QQed about it, but since it's an owned system, the QQers had no case. I think the situation in Puerto Rico is exactly the same. That system belongs to the Junkers, and that's not arguable.

This is exactly the attitude that leads to the "bad" POB's. "I can because it is my right, I OWN this system".

Remove POB's, the community isn't mature enough to handle them.
