That's what I've been waiting for. Thank you. However here comes an other question...

As of this moment, is there a definitve list of what exactly "others" mean in the context of what I quoted above?

Good to hear, definitely easier that they already have cruiser allowances. I know it's not set in stone, but if you go with that, any thoughts on what the best Gallic fit would be, since they currently have no dedicated intelligence branch? GRN? GRP? Solar Engineering?
Having the opportunity to apply for a faction tagged Researcher ID ship, like other SRP, could solve the issue for official factions, but I'm not sure about independent faction players.

You are asking questions we haven't even discussed as Admins yet. Any conversations regarding perks from the Researcher ID is way premature. It probably was a mistake to mention them in the OP since we had no plans to implement anything. I think it was just excitement at the possibilities.

Essentially, prove to us that you're not going to abuse the ID for powertrading, and you pretty much got it. Is there a word count requirement? No. Does it need to be an essay? No. Will you get the 250mil back after you are approved? Yes. Are you a lolwut whom writes up a blatantly fake and BS RP paragraph to get an OP ID? Then you won't get it.
That's what i wanted to see. Clear (and green, yes) explanation that getting Researcher ID will be a lot easier then regular SRP. Thanks. I'm looking forward to it.
Edit: One question. What about using that ID on some unofficial faction tagged ships? WIll it be rule violation or not? So is there a point to SRP that ID for 1-2 faction characters instead of all?
I really don't see why people dislike this so much. Reasons for this ID being implemented are pretty much obvious:
-With a Freelancer ID you can not use those fancy transports with more than 3600 cargo space.. Keep in mind, that research ships are usually rather big.
-When you are carrying a Freelancer ID everyone will think you are a Freelancer Mercenary(Well, duh) and sometimes even try to hire you randomly for whatever reason.
How is that hard to understand? Why does this get so many negative comments? It's not even a free ID that you can buy anywhere, you have to apply for it.
If you want to roleplay a researcher with a Freelancer ID, then go ahead, no one's stopping you. But if you are not one of the lazy ones, go ahead and write a short SRP and apply for it.
Don't be afraid that it will be used for powertrading. I am sure the admins will heavily monitor people using it and powertrading will turn into powersanctioning.
A Freelancer and a Researcher are two different things.

I tend to fly a Freelancer ID'd Serenity from time to time. Will you think I'm a Mercenary? Will you hire me for pewpew?

It's not necessarily about laziness, there are a lot of other factors accounting in at why some might not spew out walls of texts of roleplay, so if I were you, I'd quickly quit making rushed assumptions.

Hardly. One is a profession, the other is a choice of employment, not comparable, not incompatible. You can be a researcher working for the R&D Department of a corporation, a house intel agency, or for revolutionaries to keep up their knowledge on par with the knowledge of their enemies, etc. Or you can be a researcher working on your own, for the mere sake of gaining more and more knowledge, for yourself, taking one-time jobs from here and there to fund your research and existence, but that's all. That's called a freelancer researcher.
Iam just interetsted... Iam a little new that will explain the dumb question... What is the difference between SRP and normal RP like Iam playing I think...
I have no clue xD
sorry I'm just curious but will there be a tech nerf on it?
also like for ex. if a certain faction would SRP for it would they be able to use anyship? ex. Libertonian faction using rheinland technology and ships?
