Mimir, again. If GMG| is in the fight, then we have just fighters. And again, I have never seen any GMG Gunboat in the action. Gunboats are here for a large threats. But sometimes we can't get enough people to fight for example two Solaris Gunboats.
And GMG needs to develop a bit, Sigmas might be active soon and from my point of view... Corsairs and Outcasts prefer to attack Gamma and Alpha instead of Eta or Sigmas so GMG is out of the role again. Hogosha is semi-active and Farmers doesn't exist after all. And only enemy who's actively hunting us is Kruger, but again... Kruger uses Solaris Gunships and it's not possible to get 7 people to eliminate 2 Solaris things. You have my word, GMG| is going to use in large battles, where others will use Gunboats as well. It's not meant to be against snubs, but more for Gunboat hunting.
I probably worded things wrongly. I am not that concerned that I will get shot at by solaris gb nubs, that happens every time I log. My issue with the gameplay isn't that big because you'll find solaris gunboats everywhere and thankfully I thrust at 200.

I just think it takes away from the atmosphere and lore surrounding GMG, diluting the background and raison d'être (in a PVP view) of the faction. To me, it makes the GMG ID and the GMG NPC faction overall way less attractive, because there will be nothing unique left about it. No "special challenge".
In terms of gameplay I like challenges, and I would love to join a faction that offers that (eg. a faction only using snubs and having to deal with all sorts of enemy ship types, and taking the challenge seriously rather than complain about not having the same ships as the dudes you're fighting). I've never really been in PVP-situations that snubs couldn't handle, at least in theory. A Karasu death-squad sounds awesome in terms of gameplay as well as in terms of GMG lore.
You can easily handle gunboats by using fighters/bombers exclusively, and if you can't muster the players you can advertise for more (I'd love to join a coordinated fighter PVP faction that flies Karasus (and Katanas!) and shoot at all types of ships if only there are plenty of targets, I'm sure others would too) or hire gunboat freelancers. If GMG| made PVP awards like in the IMG, or paid security pilots a percentage of the mining profits you yield, I am sure you can attract an army of PVP whores.

In my view, diluting the unique fighter traits will make GMG into just an IMG-like thing that shoots at gas clouds in the Sigmas instead of rocks in the Taus, and that's sad when GMG's legacy is so much more rich than that.

I fully understand that this is just a difference of opinion and views, and that there's room for a multitude of different approaches.

The big problem is that shooting Gunboats like you would everywhere else in Sirius does not work in the Sigmas. All a Gunboat pilot has to do is make for an explosive gas field and they've got a pretty good immunity to snubs. I made a thread asking if it'd be possible that GMG ID'd ships or the GMG ships themselves could get a special bonus where they'd be immune to explosive damage, as per their lore. The proposal was shot down by the rest of the community sadly.
The GMG already can use Gunboats, isn't it? I can understand the reason of not using the KuEx especially in the Gas fields inRP. But what's the problem with the Condor?
Condor isn't very good. Same for the BW GS.
Our enemies use Bottlenoses, RM GBs, Condors, Tridentes and the almighty Corsair GB. I guess we can fight against Condors and Tridentes (possibly bottlenoses too however our enemies are fond of using Basics and staying out of Solaris range) but not the others.
id love to have a go at making models, if i knew of an easy way to do them as in possibly connecting pre made bits together, in a lego fashion maybe, would be fun
If the faction wants a gunboat of their own, even more so that they already have a snub and freighter and bomber, as well as if their current ID already allows it, I see no problem of giving them something fun to fly. Maybe then I will see more indie GMGs around as well.
I suggest taking the Kamome as an overall example and just rolling with it from there.
