He continued holding her before him. "We can wait a bit if you like. It's your call, really. I mean, if the Rogues are going to punish you for doing whats right for you then really, are they worth staying around with? Not to be mean but they've cost you enough already."
"Gaia is full of mysteries, mysteries waiting to be discovered and if you want, I'll be certain to start your legal studies," he continued. "I want you to be happy both personally and professionally."
The rogues would punish her for it, losing her rank would be the start, what else would follow she didn't know. She would tolerate it, he was worth it. But, he was going to help her get out. That was something she had honestly thought would have never been more then a dream.
"I'd love to finish the legal studies.... Even more so if I could be by your side." she thought for a moment before nodding and looking up at him, smiling "let's do it... As Mr and Mrs."

Doc smiled at the thought but had to turn and address what was cooking. As he did, he thought a moment. Yes he found someone that made him feel good but it was still all very new. Was he going too fast? Did he give enough time? His intentions were true but time was a good indicator of how things would work. Finishing what he turned to do, he turned back.
"Listen, I don't regret anything we've done. I still want to go through this but before we do, perhaps we should see how life would be away from this place. You know, work and such. I do a lot of it," he explained, putting a finger on her lips, "If after a bunch of it we still feel as we do, then we'll go through with it. I just don't want to rush into it and be sorry for it."
He then put his hands on her sides, "I think even you would understand that. Spend some time in my world before you commit, OK?"

Nothing more of the matter was discussed. Emiko was mature enough to be able to remain at the Erie cabin while the twins would accompany Doc and Ashlea to Omega 49 and Med Force One. . Also arranged were friends and some well trained mercenaries to keep watch. While Doc was largely out of site of most people now, he still took a lot of precautions.
The trip from Erie to Omega 49 was uneventful in his shuttle. Ashlea would see familiar sites in the California system as they headed to Magellan and the jump hole to the war torn system of Leeds. What she knew of that or had even seen was unknown to him. From Leeds it was on to Dublin via jump hole where they flew over the top of the gold laden asteroids in the system before finally safely navigating the mines to the Omega 49 system and eventually Med Force One.
Corsair patrols would on occasion follow but turn away. They knew Doc and many viewed him with favor for his humanitarian work with them. Still, that occasional new ensign pilot would try making a name for himself and harass his ships much to his demise.
The site of the large hospital ship was awesome even to Doc who had seen it numerous times. The converted dreadnaught supplied the staff and patients with most of it's food and a large portion of its medicines in it's three biodomes. It now had a hangar deck for some escort fighters and a shuttle and was always changing. It only got bigger after they docked and entered the interior. It was indeed a colony, a home for medical staff, engineers, ship staff, patients and family. With the chilling of the planet below, it now had a school for everyone from kindergarteners to high school to a medical college, an idea resulting from the sacking of the Cambridge system by the Corsair empire.
Personal quarters weren't lacking either. They were lavish and plenty of room with recreation facilities and a host of other services. It would take some time for Doc to escort his lady about the ship let alone explain it all.
She knew of the war. Keeping up to date with what was happening in Sirius was important to her, especially something so close to what she considered to be her home. Despite this, she had not seen the extent of the situation. She was quiet for most of the travels, taking in the views of the systems they passed through. The fact that they didn't have to hide was something she was not use to. If she was honest, she didn't think she ever would.
The hospital ship was almost intimidating. It was far more impressive then she had imagined it to be and nothing she knew could compare to it. She was nervous, she was a long way out of her comfort zone, and even further from home. Many people disliked her, and she couldn't help but wonder if this would be the same. Taking a breath she shook her head slightly, she told herself she had nothing to worry about - with him, she was safe.
