Might I add here the reputation infocards? The alliances and main enemies of several factions listed are not in accordance with the established diplomacy of that faction.
I remember that it took years for the Corsairs to have their allied status removed from the Order rep card, or now that the Zoners are listed as allies of the Order after half a year in which both factions are automatically red to each other.

No one saw this as a bug (and thus it hasn't been reported as one) before that specific sanction highlighted the fact that there are discrepancies between the stuff on the forum and the infocards.
Don't shoot the messenger, Toris and Meph are right.
I wouldn´t shoot the messenger if they would just bring the message, but snarky comment about being lazy and biased at people who are doing lot of work for this mod is something I don´t approve. Especially if no one so far reported this thing was overlooked.
Well when the standard dev answer is always so blasé, I find it hard to expect players to keep their shit calm.
Like rather than pretend that there's no issue at all, I am fairly sure the comments would have been very different if devs said "Hey, we screwed up. It's a volunteer project and we don't have time to double check each and everything, but feel free to submit a bug report and we'll look it over" - even if they truly feel players are retards for not checking every nook and corner on the forum for information obviously required to play.
Poor communication is the cause of half of Disco's problems.
I don't see where the problem is, really.
Your ZOI is made up of your ID first and the server rules later. Stick to those two sources and you should not have any problems.
I can only imagine that the situation in question quoted by the OP was that the player at the time was probably hoping that they could use the system description as an excuse, rather than actually believing it was the case. Welp- it did not work.

Maybe we should have an infocard team that scans the mod for any sort of inconsistencies with forum rules and forum-based rp/lore?
To my knowledge I think it's only Echo who does infocards right now. Having more people on the job would be a major booster to the workflow.
Spazzy, you are basing your post on conjecture, that you believe the player set out with ill intent; and while that certainly tips everything, you just cannot know that. That's another huge problem in Disco: Constant analysis of other people's motives, based on one's own sentiments. It makes it very difficult to discuss or debate anything.
Also it's a little more muddled, because while we all agree to what constitutes ZOI, the issue here is having "official" sources with conflicting information.
I like to pick up and play the game and if my ID says I can kill stuff in the Taus, and the system information I get in-game says I am in a Tau system, naturally I am going to shoot rather than go browse a forum.

Well, thank you for pointing that out. I suppose I did when I said that it was my imagination on the scene at hand, but thank you for doubly pointing it out nonetheless just in case.
EDIT: Also, how am I supposed to discuss something without using my own deduction of the situation? Or do you want me to use someone elses opinion just to make sure I do not hurt their feelings?

Well, yes, considering the initial question about whether or not the mod descriptions should fit the server rules was already agreed upon as indeed being a good idea. I mean, I could have just given a thumbs up to the rest of your comment, but considering it was something we already established to be true a few posts back, I found it a bit redundant to do.
EDIT: Hold on.

The server administration sort of has established that going to the forums and reading the server rules is mandatory, so that excuse is rather invalid. The ZOI chart is in the same thread as the rest of the server rules, so whether or not you want the game to be "pick up and play" is completely irrelevant.
