My screenshot shows the "copy failed" for EVERY file, this is what I get...
I hope the screenshot helps you with my issue.

I see you're still attempting to install to the C drive. Windows 8 is very protective of the system partition. Can you try and install to a different partition if there is one? Also, make sure you're running the installer as administrator.

Well, now...how do I re-access my account?
I don't know how to log back in as myself as I do not know what is required to do so...?

Is there a way, or do I have to find some way of bringing my old characters over to this version?
Would they even WORK now...?

I was trying to install Freelancer on my 2nd PC and after installing the vanilla version and the mod itself, I started the launcher but at 1 MB of downloading updates it stops downloading and exits the launcher. I can't download the update, and therefore play multiplayer, and I don't know the reason.
I've done nothing else except installing vanilla and 4.88 and running the launcher. Any suggestions?

Usually the problem is caused by antivirus program which is blocking launcher from checking and downloading updates. Add exception to your antivirus and also try to execute launcher with antivirus turned off completely.

Export your characters from your old account manager, then click on the My Accounts tab of the launcher and import them there.

So after solving the problem where my launcher stops at 1 MB of downloading, it now stops at around 2.5 MBs and an error message pops saying the system has killed the launcher and then it gets shut down. Suggestions?
