Still, the OMG PRETTY GRAPHICS in 2015 is a pretty basic thing, so if they get that right, they can go from there ... plus the only reason you even know engine kill exists is cause it is in Freelancer. . .
However, if they'd ever decide to make that game somewhat possible to turn into something like Disco is, I'm all in for that!

the only reason I'm not playing/modding a more modern space sim. . . (okay, not entirely true, lack of private server support is a big deal in a lot of cases too)
But seriously, FL's largely free flight controls are what make it for me. It's space, you shouldn't be limited to flying like it's a WW2 plane simulator.
Good point, however the overwhelming freedom can confuse some... that is the main reason I suck at PvP bigtime, cause I get way to many possibilities and I get distracted by the actual controlling of the ship... and can't aim at what I need to shoot.
However, if I personally have to choose between a game running on Unreal Engine , having pretty up to date surroundings and graphics overall, has what it needs, or a game that has engine kill, strafing , reverse or barrell roll ( which I never ever actually used in Disco ) than I think I can live without EK , Strafe and reverse.
Actually, why the hell is there reverse in Freelancer ? How do you actually achieve that in space ? Giant vacume cleaner in the back to pull the ship backwards ?

Implying a video game makes sense.
there could be like, a mini backwards engine where the main engines are, allowing for reverse.
Mini thrusters on the front? I think we can safely assume those things exist, I mean, how could we even strafe if we wouldn't have more thrusters on more sides of the ship in "reality" than what's displayed by the game engine? (Remember BSG? There are strafing and engine kill there too, just displayed with a tiny bit more details.)

Indeed, there are those things in BSG , but the whole controll / fire mechanism is a lot more simple at some point , which I tend to like better then what FL has. if I could go with aimint with the mouse and flying with the keyboard, I'd be happy, but there are so many buttons needed just to use 60% of game mechanics that it makes it impossible.
