At least for me, I've spent so much more time on the discovery forums than any other online community in the past years, I kind of forget what internet-normal standards are.
These forums have the most anal rules about posting of any place I know, by a huuuuge margin. I cannot imagine another forum aimed at - well, anyone old enough to be posting on the internet really, that has such hilariously strict rules.
We, or rather some among us, pride ourselves in our no-tolerance policy for what would elsewhere be considered normal conversation, yet the community is more filled with hostility, toxicity than most. It's a perfect parody of the totalitarian regime where the oppressive degree of control has just made everything worse, and fueled discontent with the administration.
And it's pointless to discuss it. You'll be met with nothing but indignation, self-pity and denial.
There are no problems with the rules or their enforcement, same as there are no problems with mod development.
Everyone is working extremely hard and for free and it's totally unfair to criticize anything, the community is just ungrateful and unwilling to help, there are no double standards and no bias.
As I said in my previous post. I am done with this thread and do what you "think" is best with that shoutbox. I will probably stop playing soon too. I still don't agree with the clubbing example. Good night!

yes i did.
Extra polite.
I even said i understand that it was a your mom joke and that i shouldnt do it :|
Hey nOmnomn0m, I think you and me have to do what that cat is doing in Miaou's avatar to Admins' backs. (I would've used a dirty word) Y'know what I mean, get good with them and then they'll unban you. "One hand scratches another."
no i dont think getting in bed with admins will help me unbanning myself from a shoutbox considering the admins probably ignored my request for unbanning that i wrote in the best way you can :|
If you are banned then dont expect getting back. Tried it.
cant wait to read more shoutbox spam that really doesnt help anyone most of the time. the funny thing is some mods contribute to it too.

You and everybody else is entitled their opinion as I am.
I used that analogy because hopefully most of you would understand it. In my day, if you did things wrong at Pubs/Clubs you were banned and that was it. There wasn't any of this three strikes and you are out.
It appears that people expect to get a slapped wrist for the first half a dozen infringements, otherwise they feel hard done by. Maybe I should go an rob a few banks and only expect to get told off first and then bemoan that I am being picked on when I am sent to prison because nobody told me that robbing banks wasn't allowed.

I recall that the Shoutbox, in it's first weeks of inception, was abused and spammed to hell. The Admins quickly decided to reset it, and put a little grey (green?) message above it, warning those that use it that the shoutbox was a "little to zero tolerance zone", and that infractors would be permanently restricted from using it.
It seems that in the moving here and there of the forum this message disappeared, but it seeped into the minds of the community that the shoutbox banhammer was lightning fast.
Until one guy who decided to come back one day and was not aware of this committed the offense, and decided to call foul. For he was not properly informed.
Informed that civility has perks, and lack of temper has penalties.
TL: DR bring back the shoutbox disclaimer that warns people to behave.

so you are telling me that doing something wrong in shoutbox is bannable forever but doing something to break actual rules in the game gets you a "permaban" that you can apply to come back after 6 months?
Explain to me how that works, please.
In your logic everyone that gets a sanction should just not play the game anymore regardless of how small it is.

I can't comment on your request as I don't think I have seen it.
I know some people have been reinstated, I don't know the circumstances.
As for Shoutbox, I do glance at it occasionally but it appears, to me, that nothing important goes on in it.
If you seriously want to get back on it put a request in and it will be discussed.
If you feel that it is being abused, by anybody, then put a Report in and that, once again, will be discussed.
I can't be any fairer than that.

But i did. :|
So I will have to do it again just becasue I starting "complaining" again and got an Admins attention.
*sigh*
The point is though I dont care if i come back or not. I was quite about it for a long time. But for me it is the principle of the matter that counts more than the matter itself.
"As for Shoutbox, I do glance at it occasionally but it appears, to me, that nothing important goes on in it."
Like ... i know... but it is the principle of the matter that admins and mods are like "oh you bring it up? Oh that means you care and that our punishment is working! HAHA!"
Like I dont know what else to say. Feels like kindergarten and you are stuck in the time-out zone for poking your friend when you were not supposed to. And then the teacher makes comments each time that you look away form the corner even though you really dont care that much.

I think I answered you questions above.
It appears that our posts crossed.
As for bans, people are allowed to request to be reinstated. There have been a few requests.
As I said earlier, I can't comment on what has happened before I became an Admin.

Please can you tell me where I said that?
