Heavy fighter has good agility but can often die to one direct nuclear mine. Super Heavy Fighters are kind of like handicapped gunboats, not very good overall. They have large hitboxes and a lot of firepower, but they are very slow and easy to outturn.

1. Each has it's own strength/weakness. Depends on the person, really.
2. Sometimes. Other times a class 10 slot may be only for missiles

It might hit right at the moment of shield recharge.
Also, keep in mind that shot ALWAYS drop shield down without affecting hull - even if shield was that one point and shield damage from weapon is 9750, all the damage it drained by shield. If the shield is down, you can hit hull of the ship - unless: line above.
