Hmmmm.... Interesting thread. Lots of passion and deeply held convictions. I can respect that.
I am a member of A51 but at this time I am speaking for myself alone. Kane and Ghost speak for the clan.
I have no desire to engage any of you in a debate. Insults aside, you have eloquently stated your opinions.
It would appear that there is a dilemma here.
There is a lot of talk about what a couple of you very vocally think we are doing wrong. My question is very simple and to the point. Who decides? Not just in this but in all things RP?
So you make your point. Throw in capwhore, maybe PvP whore. Tell the person you disagree with that they have no idea what they are doing. They don't know how to RP. Hey, I'll even accept that you might be right.
But my question remains. Who is the arbiter of what is right and good RP wise? The community?
Well lets see.
The "community"(at least the very vocal few of you) has decided they know all about us and is now ready to pass judgment. Everything we do, think and say is wrong.
Well well, not much to work with there.
It's OK. We know we are the new guys. Some of you will never understand us. Some of you will think you do but will be badly mistaken. Folks we are just here to play the game. I think it's probably alright if we don't play the exact way you would want us to. If we disagree with you, it doesn't mean we have decided " we don't care what the server rules are, we are going to do what we want".
I have great confidence that A51 will always make an honest effort to play within the rules of the server. As near as I can see, no server rules have been broken. An RP explanation has been given for the RBS's. If it's not good enough, perhaps the officers will make another effort. Though judging from the way some of you dismiss the idea out of hand, I must wonder if any explanation would suffice for you.
I would point out that some of you here have obviously had bad experiences with clans that have come to disco. It is painfully clear due to the tone of your posts and the anger in your words. We are not those clans. A51 has always and will always make an effort to be reasonable.
There is no point in complaining. Half the people don't care, and the other half think you deserve it.

Don't give me that, as you know well I'm looking at this from an RP view, as is Unselie. Not 'owner of the mod', or 'owner of the server', but actually the roleplay organization in game that play their part.
' Wrote:You got to be kidding me. Yours? Ours? I must remind all it belongs to Igiss. This is an infantile spitting competition.
A51, have fun, follow rules, and ignore those who wish you ill.
And how much does Igiss play? He has set this up for us to use. He has appointed representatives who were selected by a majority vote (after he decided that they may be competent enough to handle the responsibility). Technically, this is all owned by Majkp who graciously allows us to use his bandwidth, even though it is viewed as a "waste" by the majority of the world (at least the US). The trend has made it seem that it is, in fact, our server. Igiss has seemed to make every attempt to use us as the basis for mod changes and whatnot. So, yes, though it may be Igiss' and Majkp (whom we all appreciate), it is also ours to share.
Now following that... The A51 have been blatantly disregarding what I've told them to do in Rheinland. It was very, very simple. You don't buy or fly our battleship. They asked, I said no. And I always will. They bought one anyway, completely ignoring my decision (which as leader of House Rheinland, I can do, and can find a very convincing argument why if you want me to). They can be, considering the size of what they stole, executed for treason using one of my favorite phrases, "Death by firing squad." I've done it before, I can do it again for people who insult me and my faction.
I try to run Rheinland as close as I can to the thoughts of the members of the RM, even new recruits who are on Day 1. Some things are kept confidential, but still deliberated by four members, and this battleship of theirs is a slap to face, and I don't really like that. My one little place of power that has been granted to me by our last leader, Samus(AKA. Angel) has been smacked so many times since taking control, and all I've done is to try my best to weed out RP-problems and set fixed standards of how we operate. Rheinland is still led by a Chancellor, believe it or not. His word, (or in this, one and only, case my word) is law. And I do try to be fair to the best of my ability.
I can't stop people from Cap-Whoring, but I can definitely make it well known that we won't tolerate theft of OUR ships.
Ok, lets for arguement sake (Dboy) say I agree to that line of thinking. Please enlighten me to their proper role? In detail please, since all who oppose them know who and what they are.
Virus, the precedent for stealing, or scavaging, Cap-ships has a long and honorable past. It has been done, so can happen again, even to Rheinland.
Heck, if they wish, I can give them the H.S. Rancor, which was a militia Rheinland BS destroyed by my Hessian cruiser and its carcass was found by my brethren. It has a whole history done to the detail.
It could be RP'd as trophy taken by these BH vermin in battle in the Omegas.

Answer is simple. Take a look at the BHG NPCs, now do what they do and what their history has said they do. Just like any and every other faction on Discovery does. Yes, there is of course the tiny little added stuff to each faction, that's all good as long as it's reasonable. This? Isn't.
That's my take on it at least, not sure if anyone else agrees, but it's still my take on it. Hasn't failed me yet...

Actually, it's one of the things that is frowned apon quite a bit. The "I stole it" gag doesn't quite cut it anymore, for anyone really, I've only seen a certain few get away with it successfully. But they're getting small Fighters, maybe even a Bomber. BUT FOUR Rheinland Battleships? And not only trying to get them out of Sigma 13? Fail...
If logic does not exist in Discovery (which is a paradox, given it says that Condition A absolutely does not exist in Area A, which follows causality and makes an absolute operational statement bound by logic)..
Why do ships blow up when I shoot them?
Why are battleships bigger than fighters?
Why do actions cause reactions?
Arguing with someone who doesn't think logic itself exists is an absolute impossibility, so I'll frankly leave it there. Discovery doesn't follow the laws of physics of our universe, but the fundamental law of causality is still in effect.
If y'all like, I'll just open my tattered I Ching and settle this once and for all?
No? Okey, then...
Could someone, preferrably someone from A51, spare me reading seven pages of whingeing by answering the following simple questions:
Is A51 proposing to be a Disco Faction?
Has the appropriate "bond" for such a proposal been submitted?
Does A51 eventually plan to submit a "Faction Request"?
If the answers to the above are "no", then I submit in the immortal words of the Bard (no, the "other" Bard), that this is all "sound and fury, signifying nothing".
If the answer to any of the above eventually becomes "yes". Then we might all consider conserving a lot of unnecessary bandwidth and hot air for use another day.
Causality remains in effect regardless of the irrational desires of sapients. It is true that some human behaviour is driven by whim or desire, but the laws of the universe and reality, which are nonsapient entities, are not. From the most abstract point of view, Discovery is a collection of subatomic particles. Subatomic particles follow absolute laws and Discovery is not a sapient entity capable of independent or irrational action, thus it follows the laws of logic.
People may fall in love for silly reasons, but that doesn't mean cars start talking and listening to Ipods for no reason. Roleplay is about the simulation of a hypothetical situation, and situations as such need to mirror the laws of the known universe as far as possible if one wants maximum authenticity.
The server rules disagree with your position on logic, given they exist as absolute conditions upon the use of Discovery RP as a resource and impose absolute limits and constraints upon the extent of Discovery RP. If logic doesn't exist, then why can I not roleplay a Phantom who is also an Asgard Warrior?
