Cougar vs Eclipse

Trying to decide which of the Gallic bombers would be better for lawful rampaging in the Taus. The Eclipse is a 2+1 superheavy while Cougar is 1+1 very heavy. I was expecting the Cougar to be medium bomber but it is actually very close in stats to the Eclipse. In fact, the Order Sekhmet bomber is the only 1+1 that's heavier than the Cougar, and the Eclipse is the next step up from that, so they are very close in stats.

I assume GRN faction prefers the Cougar but for indy purposes the Eclipse might be better since it can mount SNAC+Nova+CD and solo some of the caps in the Taus. My guess is that the Cougar may be a little more agile but its not agile enough to make a difference. I cant see bothering to have both of them since you dont gain enough from the Cougar to justify having it.

Wondering what others have decided here.

Both are good in their respective roles, cougar is meant as a direct counterpart of the council's basilisk, wheras the eclipse is a bomber based on the fact that the two battleships in its area are both rather heavily armored. Both have redeeming qualitys, both have downsides.

I personally would stay away from the cougar unless your grn or grp id'd though, as RP wise these things arent handed out like candy, being a royal navy ship and all.

I'm GRN ID. I've had a Couger there for a while but only used it on a couple of Bret raids, so I changed it to Eclipse a little time ago but haven't used it much for hammering the Outcast caps yet either. Just trying to figure out which is better, pretty sure Eclipse will be for solo strikes but wondering what others think.

Cougar. While the Eclipse may look nice as a heavy bomber, it turns too slowly. Cougar has a nice almost centered SNAC and guns in a nice tight cluster. It's my second favorite bomber and I mainly fly bombers.

Cougar has great stats and it's the size of a VHF. The Eclipse is almost as slow and big as a gunship. Get a Cougar.

Eclipse. I prefer heavies.

Eclipse will be easy target due to the size and shape. I would recommend Cougar, unless you know that opposing side will have few snubs field.

Id toke a Cougar. Id love to use SNAC and Nova, but Eclipse is slow and big, that will not be good in group fights. And Cougar looks much better.

I haven't flown either, but at a glance (from somebody who used to fly nothing but bombers) I'd say the Couger is the better of the pair. The Eclipse looks... well... like the kind of bomber that's only useful for cap busting.
