about how they consider the BHG. - i m not sure if its made up by the players.... ( not sure which rumors refer to it ... from the original rumors ) - i don t know if BHGs in alaska are vanilla ( rather not as it was locked down ) - or why igiss put them there... thats a fundamental question of if he placed them for no reason or cause he had his reasons.
the BEST solution would be to lock the alaska gate ( from a RP point of view ). - so that not even lsf / navy players can pass through. - why would that be the best? - cause even those players should not have a reason to go through this gate, - and if they feel the urge to do so, there is still the long route through kusari space ( navy appears only in fighters in minor, delta - and the capital ships in alaska would be build in yuno shipyard - doesn t need to have a player capital ship present there )
what effect would that have ? - alaska would be empty, abandoned, dead. - thats how it should be like, when its about RP. there is no valuable wreck and nothing to get there ( other than selling pirates for a high price ).
its how it is supposed to be - the question is - do you / we want it that way? - alaska being a "dead weight"?
I rather enjoy my time in alaska killing nomads and taking missions, and as I said it's a system that allows higher up LSF/Navy players to do missions for decent cash while not venturing too far from the core systems of liberty if we're needed for a battle.
You can't get the opinions of the NPC LSF, especially as their boss, Director Brian Copeland ultimately sets policy and has done so. Obviously, he would have access to Alaska, as would Fleet Admiral Richard Woolsey of the Southern Liberty Navy. Locking it to all players would be silly. The solution is to better enforce current policies and to actively encourage an RP treating Zone 21 like it is meant to be treated, not as a mildly dangerous junction.
If a jumpgate can be reliably locked wouldn't all JG's be locked for anyone non authorized, not just Alaska? If you take this point to it's full conclusion any JG would require a transponder from the home system owner, and jump holes would be the only way to get from one house system to another for most players.
' Wrote:for alaska , i d really love to see two fat battleships ( stationary ) at the alaska gate - and dozens of mk2 VHFs patrolling - and allshould be on LFS guard or nava guard faction.
What's the problem with this solution?
It is quite simple (easy to implement) and military style (so to me fine RP).
Also, the only people who should be allowed by Liberty into Zone 21 should be those authorized by High Command, really. Even Navy and LSF officers (like Juni and possibly Walker) are not generally allowed in.
The Zone 21 gate is a particularily special one, given we have explicit campaign evidence of a former high ranking Navy officer transmitting codes to open it. You can argue it was on heightened alert, but I doubt they wouldn't keep something like Alaska kept under a massive code sequence. I mean, they built a massive minefield around it.
As to why the 2 battleship solution hasn't been implemented.. it's because Igiss wants the mod to be SP playable. Which I, with respect to him, don't get, given that you can read about the Nomads and news from 16 years later (including reading about the Kusari Bretonia war when frontline news is speculating about the first interhouse war!) early on in the campaign.
so, what reasons are there against locking alaska down completely. - i could live with it, but then i don t use it - i am am hardly objective about that issue. one could add a jumphole from the guard system of the navy to a FAR away place in alaska ... so that you CAN go from NY to alaka without the gate, but you don t get a time advantage at all, cause you ll have to fly through 150k of iceshards to get to another jumphole to minor.
