I just finished the upholder. I hope you like it as much as I do. https://skfb.ly/LPSp
The profile of the ship is simmilar to the original upholder.
For V2, I am thinking to make the cockpit a little bit shorter than it is right now.
I will also flesh out the cockpit a bit more later.
I will post some background info about the design later today, after I get some sleep.
This is a sexy upholder replace...I like looking at it quite a lot but the weird angles atop the intakes are kind of odd to me, great looking design nonetheless though!
Balancing this will be no problem at all, and it's definitely on the right track.
I'd add a few more sharp edges and points to the beast like the original had - definitely keep the pointed cockpit. The surfaces on the top central section are too flat too, maybe try adding some miniature fins or something (maybe at the currently inset areas with the internal engine looking bits are)
My only major concern with the model is where are the torp mounts going to go? On the original model, they were on those big inset areas which I assume the hexagonal intakes are supposed to represent. I'm also assuming you want those to be actual intakes instead of torpedo mounts. Just something to consider.
Looking forward to V2. Also, if you're going to be doing more models for Discovery, you should probably PM me your Skype details.
The big half hexagon like intakes are the missile bays.
In the back there is a missile feeder where Liberty forces would roll in the warheads when reloading.
The whole idea that the bulk between these points is the warhead storage.
When textures are applied, the area's will be more distinct for their functionality.
