I did that seven years ago and did not know it would end up with that stupid thread showing up alongside information regarding my business on google search.

I must say, that I do not really look forward to this.
As it is already, we're slowly losing players, and another server would not much help this.
And the main problem about this is, that discovery is already not that highly populated, so loss of players could ultimately lead to its extinction, which is....
Unfortunate for those that still want to play it.
So - if possible - any trouble on the server could be solved in one way or another so that it remains 1 official Server.
After all, we want to play Discovery together, right?
It's a roleplay server, and that is - for many - most of the fun

I mean, there are already a good chunk of other Discovery servers. We don't really intend on hosting a large roleplay server, but hopefully just something to serve as a training/buffer server for our players. If you have any chance of boosting your playerbase, not to sound prude but I'm it. However that's a double edged sword, as a lot of the people I'm going to bring in will be inexperienced and potentially disruptive (not because of malice, but just because they won't know what they're doing) so I think having a place where they can safely learn the game (without breaking any critical rules, or hurting their reputation with an established community) is pretty ideal. Everyone will trickle over to your server in the end anyways, that is not a worry of mine. I'm here to preserve your culture, while simultaneously building your playerbase, and in my opinion that is the best way to do it.

We have an [Angels] faction that is actually made only to help the new players ([Angels] tagged ships and white names on the forums). You see if you will make your own server you will learn not a lot, it will came a lot quicker in the case if you will play on the main server. Basically community is not toxic, a lot of tutorials is written, many guys will gladly help you. Literally no one will expect from you much if you playing like... the second day now. Speaking of the faction, I think that's too earlier, but well go on with it, develop your RP and your story, interact with other factions and groups. But I'd suggest to also join existing newbie-friendly factions, some factions are actually teaching it's own players during the game in regular. As I've seen from the streams you asking questions, you want to learn so everything is fine, go on, have fun and not be afraid to do mistakes (if any).
It's not a bad writeup for a really new player. A group of assorted lower middle class freelancers, mercenaries and traders and is a pretty flexible thing.
But you should take to heart what sindroms said: It's not easy to fit a faction into the world when you're that green. Nor is it really necessary: You can check out the universe, do some trading and missions, all that kind of stuff perfectly easily in a group without making a faction. Especially if you don't intend to focus on some particular ideology, sector of business, or diplomacy, you're probably better served by simply flying around with people you want to introduce to the game, and interacting with people as you go along. Forming a faction requires a degree of background knowledge you don't really have a chance of knowing at this point.
I'd recommend having a little more of a look around, play a couple weeks, maybe joining an existing faction.

Eh, I think it's pretty standard for new players to try and form their own little faction. I know I did it when I started, and as a newbie I ran into plenty of other newbies banding together under some random tag (and often flying whatever ships they could find with whatever IDs slapped on).
Later on, when you get more acquainted with the universe and playerbase you often "naturally" look into some (official) faction to join with an actual character that has some fancy dreamt-up background. Or you don't, I suppose, in which case you become/remain one of our many indies.
If these guys go around as a group playing different games on different servers I don't see what's wrong with sticking together for a while here, either. If anything it's already quite cool that the faction itself is defined as a group of "Freelancers". Most newbie factions (as I said above) are far 'messier' and tend to fly everything from Zoner Nephilims to Liberty Dreads and assorted 5K transports under the same tag.
Random reminder that to the average newcomer (and that includes Bluedrake's gang, presumably) "RP" is probably a pretty foreign concept.
Always good to find potential new players, I would add however that bringing in a group of new inexperienced players into an old community like this will not be without its teething issues!
