I'm curious to know why the Nova was changed anyway? For all intents, it was to make room for a new Anti-Matter cannon, the SuperNova.
In 4.83 (where I started), the Nova AntimatterCannon was the go-to weapon for bombers (only two, but everyone had one). Now, it's the SuperNova. Clayph's doing something that people have been screaming for, to factionalize weapons. Good job! And it will be appreciated if it gets implemented *crosses fingers*.
But where does that leave the StarKiller, SunSlayer, and Nova? The StarKiller and SunSlayer should stay where they are. They do their job well for new people. But as someone (sorry) said, the Player Characters are the elites of Sirius, and have the knowledge of these superweapons. Nova's would be sold at most Zoner bases in the outer-rim, with the SuperNova variants being sold in guard bases
I think the Nova should be put back to the anti-matter energy cannon it was, with about 60% of the damage of a SuperNova. This way, you would have to choose between mounting dual Novas, or a SuperNova + CD. Bump the Nova Power usage back up to 24000, draining most bombers but allowing all to fire duals.
I have read everything.
And i dont realy like the idea to give supernovas for every single faction.
Like now, i can buy a supernova on Aranmore. I mean i dont mind it, but it is a bit oorp for the molly to have such a weapon. They are poor, like the rouges, etc etc
I think every faction should be a little bit unique. And if every faction has the same weapons with different names (okay, the damage range, etc has a bit difference too) than everything will look to "grey".
Acctulay this is the situation with the ships too-slowly every faction getts a battleship, bomber, etc-but this is off topic
My suggestion: create more faction specific weapons, like order-nova, razor-bretonia, inferno-corsair (since the corsairs have shieldbusters), minirazor-outcats, chainguns, mortars, and another bunch of weapons.
i know, the balance.. it could be done, like the corsairs would have a good shield buster, but the outcats would have a very good "hull buster",
An option, to maintain balance, would have all use the same stats, but with different sounds, names and graphics. A wee bit boring, but it would work, I think.
The stats written in the first post are bit out of date now.. I did some
ingame tests and so on and changed the stats..
The projectile type is important and I think I will keep it there.. It will
force capships to fight against their true enemies.. So if a Corsair battleship
shielded against Outcast guns will come in New York - BOOM, laser Arbiters will
nail it.. And so on..
Supernova was made to remove the 1-2 kill ability of bombers with Novas. So they won't be coming back I think...

The thing with shield-specific damage is that then the whole balancing must start again... I'm sure there were more people than me who haven't thought about it.
And type of shield does matter a lot on caps... specially if you are in hostile NPC area.... ex. BHG in Gamma or Red Hessian in New Berlin.
IT's really nice that "it would get owned by the other type"... but that only works if you think about sirius-wide organizations.. not so much localy... then very soon we would have independent LR mounting Outcast SN "because they are allies and it's better against those shields..." and we are back where we started. Don't think admins will sanction people for that.... point was to make the SN different while reasonably same, so that people stick to their faction guns.

and in guard system of most factions, you can choose from all 3 shield types. so when i know that i go again for example outcast i mount shield again them, when i know that i go again BH,i mount shield again their supernova. or factions put these shields on bank and you can just transfer them and switch.
I think equipping the incorrect mortar should be sanctionable. Otherwise, you'd see anti-fighter bombers using the BD one, tndependent LR mounting Outcast SN "because they are allies and it's better against those shields...", etc.
Anyway, the LR point is silly as the Lilith is particle also.
It just means people can choose different shields depending on their faction/roleplay/enemies.
I simply don't see any added benefit in making the damage shield-specific... only a LOT of balancing problems.
They are all based on anti-matter technology anyway aren't they?
EDIT: @ Clayph also when you write that you "did some testing" and changed the numbers.. did you test them on the bombers that are supposed to fly them?
The powerplant makes a huge difference there... your nomad bomber has the smaller one.
