In order to make it more interesting, you could promise freedom to the pilot who wins a certain amount of fights. That way, there will be a reason for them to fight against each other. The one who can defeat X amount of opponents, will have his life forfeit, and will also be released from the arena.

but consider capturing 4 LPIs - what will they do? - donut eating contest untill they blow up? - cause if you tell them to fight, they ll all turn into opposite directions and engage cruise.
Just wait 'till there is only one donut left in the box, and you will see the most bloody fight ever to have taken place on Sirius.
Or better. Make them fight for the donut box. That way, even if a rescue party arrives, they will join the fight to see who can grab the donut box. You would have a double event in your hands. The fight to death between prisoners, and the battle for the donuts.:yahoo:

(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
A long term captivity sounds a bit problematic. It would be definately best, but I don't know if other cops are willing to go along with it.
Also. A promise for a cut of the winnings is a great motivator along with the promise of actually making it out alive. People will do anything if there's even a glimmer of hope.
Also Cardamine does unexpectable things to morality. Especially if your daily dose is missing.

More problematic than that, I believe, would be convincing three people to actually kill their characters after the event. I am under the impression that this can only be accomplish grabbing characters specifically "built" for this event or recently created ones. I know for a fact that this isn't something I want to do with my current RM character. I still have an event to promote with him!:(

So much for the pseudo-nobility of lawfuls. Of course, no one is saying that the so called lawfuls are all knights in white horses, but you can end up with someone that's not that corruptible. Then, the monetary offer may not be enough to convince them. One thing that could work out fine is having loved ones' lives at risk. Say, having a transport with their kidnapped families aimed at by bombers. You don't even have to really have the transport on sight, nor really have their families. You'd just have to convince them that you got them.

Well, I see the Corsairs resorting to Cardamine after any fashion, only in an extreme necessity scenario. Like when a group exposed one of their own children to Cardamine so they would have the perfect spy (Post #9) in Malta. But then again, the cruelty of addicting someone to a drug just to have them carving for it afterwards is fitting to someone willing to promote such an arena.

You put two guys in arena and say: "Fight each other to death or you will be killed both"
It's really Ivan's show now, but first I envisioned just made up for the event chars to fight each other. I never actually thought that someone would risk a established character to do this. Just John Doe's of police forces.
But it's Ivan to decide how he's going to make the fight happen.
Good points though Gronath about extortion and such. Would add a lot of depth to the event even if the cop chars are made up for the occasion.
An idea occurred to me (as usual late in night at bed).
So I propose this to make the event organization as hassle free as possible.
I need to kill certain Ted Fisher, who has conveniently a short history with Corsairs. I can make him available to partake as the Corsair captive. Ted is currently and conveniently placed in Cambridge. And I'm sure Corsairs can whip a up reason to ave Ted killed because of his duplicity in selling the info to others also.
Maybe the other side supplying gladiators could be Hessians and we could have this illegal fight/betting thing as 1 hour warm-up for our weekly battle. This would ensure some crowd and give a little twist also.
And I think we should not be too picky who can fight. A Daumann employee would be very nice to carry the Hessian flag to the battle.
Just 4 pilots in light fighters without shields sound good to me.
