In the vanilla version of Freelancer, they really had no real interest in being there personally as their artifact route was handled through third parties and they could still turn a profit that way.
Now with the Artifact prices as they are they can't really make any real money unless they smuggle into Liberty - thus, you will occasionally see Corsairs in Liberty. It's a fact of the mod, and for the Corsairs, its one of their economic lifelines, they will occasionally be there.
What they should;nt be doing is going in there en masse, invading etc etc, they have enough to worry about closer to home then to send an invasion fleet, but a trader and a reasoneble escort or two is still sneaky enough.
As for the Alaska route - this goes back to that old thread about who can/cant/should/shouldnt use that route. I dont see why a Corsair wouldnt try it - They know the route, they're allied with the Order, who everyone conceded had the Jumpgate codes for NY - I dont think its unreasonable that a Corsair would try it.
That being said, you CAN smuggle from Omega 5 to Texas and make almost as much money - AND not get spotted by any lawfuls... if you're sneaky enough:)
They fight on several fronts. Bretonia (outguned but not outskilled), Omicrons (outnumber Outcasts), Omegas (outnumbered by Hessians, but not outskilled or outgunned), Sigma's (out-tacticianed by GMG, but often break GMG lines even in a much worse tactical position), Honshu (rather low activity).
They are rather numerous, although fight on many different fronts and it evens the odds. One of the most fearsome pirate power.
Heres a rumor.
Two Corsairs attacked and robbed a Bowex convoy. After taking away their cargo, they blew off the trader just for the fun of it.
Now, how sick and twisted is that!? They are evil and they know it.;)
' Wrote:Yes, we are evil and scary and like to blow things up.
We even attack the media - just ask Camera Reporter...:)hahaha
and unlike the outcasts, we can't blame it on a drug induced god-complex
Breaking server rules yeah. Firstly made Order that he sent me on specific coordinates: "Hey check out on that coordinates" "there is fight going on" And once got there attacking underlevel civilian without warning or reason. Even if I would know that is restricted area as underlevel civilian I shouldn't be attacked. Got luck that I didn't share screenshots to admins but tried to make roleplay story. And now making yourself important becouse you were able to destroy someone who doesnt have even 1 single weapon? And you know what is funny you make fun with my work in one hand and on another you trying to become full camera reporter. I know it is just game but I don't think that is the way.

Point No. 1:Corsairs in Liberty and smuggling
*Sigh* NO ONE exept the Order (occasionly) and Liberty Authorities (save the LPI) should be using the Alaska jump gate! It is highly ooRP, you do not smuggle through the most highly guarded place in -all of sirius-. There are alos plenty of other RP ways to get from Corsair ZoI to Liberty, for example I have a Arifact trade route that was taught to me by the wise Carlos Benitez. It only uses JHs, no JGs, and there is only one oppertunity to use a TL and even that's optional and won't put too much time on your journey if you vote against it. All in all it takes about 13-20 minuets round trip
I don't ship to Manhattan either, Rochester people! I mean Manhattan is camped by a slew of lawful police/navy types around the clock (NPC and player) which would make smuggling to Manhattan impossible.
Note on n00bl3t's argument:
What is the Order trying to do? Eliminate the Nomads, which according to rumour still infest the Liberty government, and overthrow the corrupt Liberty government. What are the Corsairs trying to do? At the end of the day take over the universe. Do you think the Order would let the Corsairs run rampant in Liberty? I mean Corsairs have a tendency to get a little exiteable and burn down everything in sight when in new and exotic places. Liberty has no use to the Order as ash and ruin, hense why Corsairs don't get the gate codes.
Point No. 2:The original purpose of this thread
Right, Corsair ZoI is one of the largest. They have NPCs almost everywhere. It's been gone over before but I'll still throw in my ideas about our ZoI.
1. Liberty- No unless your a smuggler
2. Kusari- Only in Honshu, or gping to visit a FA/Hogsha base. In this case, fly to the base, do whatever your doing and get out. Don't sit around exchanging verbal abuse with traders or attempting to pirate people.
3. Bretonia- Wherever you like, just stay away from the stationary battleships and capital planets, about 15K should do.
4. Rhineland- limited read the Road to Rhineland news articles. The Red Hessains are a road block that is stopping the Corsairs getting into Rhineland
5. Omegas- Go for it
6. Sigmas- Limited, I think
7. Omicrons- Well obviously, just don't spend too long around Alpha or Outcast areas, it makes the locals angry and will just provok another round of Anti-Corsair flames.
I think that covers it... Possibly.
I agree concerning the alaska gate. Maybe Liberty navy guard should sit there with few nice ships and enough firepower to demolish a trader.
Either way, point of the thread was the question about ZoI and i think that's been answered nicely. I don't move out of omegas and omicrons and I still have loads of fun.
Camera dude, you are heavy on roleplay, correct?
What kind of hypocritical guy are you when you roleplay hard and don't let other people roleplay with you?
Sorry hun, you got took out not because you're civilian under the certain level, but because you were a reporter in gamma without authorization. I'ld say thats plenty of roleplay.
I didn't shoot you, actually i'm talking about hypocritical situation, but here's a one for the future: If you are going to roleplay, expect to be roleplayed back, and hiding behind that iron courtain of civilian id isn't cutting it. I love your camera bar reports, but don't attack people without looking at your situation from the different angle.
I'm talking hypothetic ofcourse, about what happened in gamma when some guys fought bountyhunter.. or so i heard..
