FYI: System Names in the "Player Status" Tracker Incorrect

First of all Shiki, I would like to address that I could only make sense of half of what you said. That is partly due to grammar issues, but also because I seem to completely miss what you are criticizing. No, I am not "skipping the criticism", and I am also not "joining the devs in their world out of actual gameplay". I am merely disagreeing with you, and don't understand what is so confusing about the new (much more logical) names.

Yes. Force the server population to use the names that make sense. I don't see a problem. I really don't. The new system names are more in line with what we've seen from Freelancer lore in vanilla, which makes them consistent with what I understand about the game, and therefore they appeal much more to me than the old names, which were basically a clusterf*** of numbers thrown everywhere without much sense, or any explanation why the other Omicrons were suddenly named in a different manner.

Oh, and could we maybe move away from criticizing the Staff just because it's "hip" and maybe criticize them for what they actually do wrong? Like it or not, the system names are a very minor issue, and you are blowing it out of proportions, making it seem like this is some kind of evidence on how the devs have forgotten everything about gameplay or whatever. Give your criticism some base before you begin staffhating. It looks much better.

Breaking gameplay to create a bit more consistent namic scheme is not a logical way to manage the game, char. I don't know, but you look like a bolshevik right now, let's smash everything, because that would be more logical and consistent on the paper and let's comepletely ignoring the reality.

I also feel bad for you now, because you have a problem with numbers, despite the fact that Tau, Sigma and Omega names are numbers only. So there is no problem with number naming lorewise. Four exsted Omicron systems had a greek latters, two were named Major and Minor and two were named Unknown. I don't see how greek latters are forced by lore, maybe, once again in your head only.

Edit: I would not spend my time here if it was a minor issue.

Edit2: And just saying "lol u hate" is a really really really weak argument. It's not like renaming system is a lot of work, change variables and Ctrl + F infocards. Don't make it like I ruing a giant effort.

Ad hominem, Shiki? Really?

Omicron Minor and Major were indeed exceptions, the Unknown systems didn't have names, and were therefore not considered Omicrons. It makes sense to assume that the Omicrons were named with greek letters (beginning with Alpha), and when they ran out of letters, began using things like "Minor" and "Major" (referring to star size/whatever). In no way there were numbered Omicrons even implied. Greek lettered Omicrons make sense in the lore, end of story.

It is a very minor issue. Gameplay is not being obstructed in any way, and you are just making this problem up for the sake of attacking the devteam. There, I can do an ad hominem too.
Serious talk though: There is really no gameplay at risk here. It makes sense and is consistent with the lore. That's why it was done, that's what it is for. If you don't like it, don't like it, but don't try to argue against it with absolutely baseless accusations. You only make yourself look bad.

Edit 2: Weak argument? Yes, it is a minor effort, but also a minor change, and one that isn't obstructing gameplay in the slightest. You making this into a "crime against common sense" is just hate, nothing more.

So what you're saying is that Omicron-99, Omicron-90 and let's see.. Omicron-85 are harder and just bs numbers and that Psi, Chi... are making more sense? Well holy ****. I didn't see anyone from 4.85 complaining about the Omicron naming scheme.

And then a random dev goes "hey let's **** up Omicron naming scheme" and your "deal with it" is great really.

It looks much better.

Maybe for you and some random devs, but not for the majority of people here.

These changes should be reverted asap.

Anyways. The numbers were fully okay and as stated above the ones causing issues could be handled easily. The new scheme is confusing and I actually do not see the reason for it too. Yet you all, both sides, make a fuss out of it.

Omicron Tau and Omicron Omega are silly system names, but if ambiguity is the problem, just take the time to type it differently.

O-Tau and O-Omega or OT and OO or Otau and Oomega.
