Just one very important reminder. If a new faction is founded, I will not be the leader. Ideally not even in the HC. I'm hopelessly biased towards the BAF, and I want to keep my evil Bretonian hands off of any sensitive stuff. Just log and shoot red things that move.

I'd happily run it, but running two factions at once is a recipe for two inactive factions. God knows how Werd copes.

It'd be nice to see some activity up north though I think some reshuffling might be in order to break the lawful vs unlawful, there needs to be a third side to make things interesting. Plus there is some weird stuff going on, such as the Corse using modified Brigand ships yet they can collect bounties against the same group that supplies them or the Council shying away from civilian attacks yet retain ties with the Marquis who are well known for hitting anyone they see who've wronged them.

I'd personally put the Corse between the GRN and Council to play both sides of the war but make them hostile to the Brigands and Marquis, the split would also allow an underworld conflict as they struggle to control the Gallic blackmarket.
The Brigands would be hostile to the Council, GRN and Brigrands but neutral the Marquis, the more chaos the easier it is to exploit and pirate.
While the Marquis would be hostile to the GRN and Corse but neutral with the Council and Brigands.

Its all of the top of my head but it'd make things a little less stagnant up there.

Unless there's going to be a huge overlap of "new GRN" members with "anti-GRN faction" members, you'll likely run into the same issues Omi has run into time and time again. If you do get that overlap you might be able to artificially create interesting engagements, though.

Without name-calling, GRN official has fallen into cynicism, immobile RP and oppressive OORP. It's an old boys club of heavily embittered people, with, like, one exception only.

This is largely brought on by the community's attitude at large towards us over a number of years now, mind you, not by choice. People are still under the impression, by and large, that we are the same mythical elite club of PvPers (basically Reavers with a different tag and 5x the numbers) that topped the activity charts back in late 2013. Unfortunately, the reality is that we have about four 'active' members and another one or two who would occasionally log, and absolutely no forecasts suggesting that will change soon.

I hope this is not some thinly-veiled sniping about the fact that your application wound up denied, because frankly it reminded me of Yao's in terms of overall seriousness. If you actually weren't having a laugh, then you're as free as ever to reapply with something halfway sensible.

This is close to what I think Gallia needs, but misses the mark slightly. We don't need a third side (that sort of but-not-really already happens with GRN vs CR vs OC) - what we need is a separate faction backing GRN| and its indies up. Another GRN ID faction would work to some degree, but I am wary of the divides things like that can cause (see also: bad relations between the Wild factions, friction between 5th| and [LN] for years before things finally smoothed over, etc). A better solution would be something along the lines of the old Gallic Junkers - a separate NPC faction with its own potential and capability to attract players. Right now, the Gallic-Bretonian war looks something like GRN vs BAF, CR, C, LN, LSF, with the coalition side also getting a ton of support (both in-game and in terms of roleplay generated, which is a big sticking point for me) from IMG, their respective and far more active House corporations, various Zoner indies and factions, and Outcasts.

We are hopelessly outnumbered no matter which way you look at it, and as long as this issue isn't addressed at all it will take an absolute miracle to pull it around.

Not yet, but if/when things finalise it should become quite clear what we have in mind.

On a final note, while GRN| recruitment is as open as ever, I cannot honestly say that I would disapprove or dislike an unofficial GRN faction springing up again. I remember flying with the Punishers and Les Bohèmes both, and never had any glaring problems or outright clashes with either to the best of my memory. That said, we have such a chronic member shortage at the moment (partially a legacy of @Miaou and his apparent desire to purge anyone and everyone useful from the faction during his tenure) that I feel uneasy recommending people to go elsewhere for fear of collapsing entirely. In the past our door has always been open to almost anyone - @Cashew joining eased the massive BAF-GRN tensions back in the day - and although recent efforts have been far less successful, involving chat leaks and all sorts of ooRP awfulness being left for me to deal with, I am still willing to give most people a go.

If you don't think I or my faction would be your cup of tea, though, you're probably right then you can always make an indie (or an unofficial group) and back us up.

@Omicega You can always make peace with the Outcasts. We used to be on a very good path in that regards when Rodent had the GRN| lead. Sadly differences within the Outcasts do make such endeavours quite complicated. Last time it also crashed bc the other official faction didn't want to side with the legal Gallia.

At this point, Divine, making peace with the Outcasts wouldn't even solve that much. The current official faction is all but dead (NC- ?) and the active unofficial one is inbred with two GRN| members (about half our active member base) and at least another couple of our indies. It would have been an attractive option at earlier points in Disco's history, but the bird might have already flown the coop on that one.
