They power the IRG cloaks.
1 IRG power cell = 1 active cloak, it basically runs forever till you decloak, at which point 1 cell is used up, otherewise their just power cells with massive RP backing to them

Before you overstep your knowledge, I'd like to make a clarification. IRG cells are a roleplay item which implies all of their capabilities (in roleplay) can be used for auxiliary or primary power (depending on installation) for the vessel that holds them. They have NO in-game use as of right now, as they are a cargo item. The Ingenuus cloak is, for lack of better terms, a renamed hybrid cloak. It does not require the cell to function.

As I just explained to you in PM, I had not over stepped my knowledge, Finn has already disclosed what the Cells real use is and is intended for. While I get you might not think so, I won't disclose it either as Finn would get rather annoyed if I did. However I've PM'd Erzie and will drop this coverstation here as it stands
Edit: The reason I won't disclose it, is because its something for IRG's faction. Not the Solar Runners or me to disclose, so whether they wish to or not is up to them, however Finn has already disclosed with the Solar Runners what the Cells real use is intended for within the skype chat
Dude, arent you taking a break? you have been causing some drama as of the last two days, this thread is clearly for IRG... let them answer stuff about their faction...
Just as the constant increase of entropy is the basic law of the universe, so it is the basic law of life to struggle against entropy. - V. Havel

In my eyes Shizu should only get a "spoiler alert" sign around his neck, his input encouraged Erzie to go talk with Finn again to clarify this matter so we all can have a 100% valid statement in the end and be happy then, right? Great. Let's wait until Finn and Erzie talked then.
Anyone who is curious on how the cell works can see this reference here.
For those uninterested, here's the infocard.
"The Ingenuus Power Cells are state of the art cores that are the product of years of research into the combined energies of human and alien origin. Encased in a unique housing and suspended in an electromagnetic field, the core itself is a self-sustaining plasma sphere that has enough energy to power some of the largest vessels in Sirius with relative ease."
Beyond that, there is no coding that gives them anything but RP use. No cloaks consume them at this time.
To script such of thing would require a hardpoint and would greatly impact their availability. The balance team has great control about the mechanics of ships, and making power core improvements is one of the easiest ways to increase the power of a ship beyond what it should be. They're fairly easy to obtain at the moment and technically the admins don't have say on who gets them. Improvements to ship capabilities in special cases is exactly what a special roleplay request covers. Though obtaining one may be the first step, for both the integrity and preservation of SRP's that could normally exist, its better for it to remain a roleplay item rather than a mountable power booster. After all, if everyone is special, no one will be.
